I have to disagree with this proposal for funding, I think it’s not really a wise way to use arb tokens
Maybe if it was live and had legit data to show impact then I personally wouldn’t be against it, sorry I think there’s other options, maybe a much smaller amount
to start.
The below response reflects the views of L2BEAT’s governance team, composed of @krst and @Sinkas, and it’s based on the combined research, fact-checking and ideation of the two.
We are voting DO NOT FUND on this proposal, but we encourage the proposer to resubmit this proposal for the next STIP round when it is available.
The main issue we have with this proposal is that it perfectly first the STIP framework and should be processed within it. Apart from that it sounds interesting and valuable and we’ll be willing to push it further. However, we would like to echo some of the concerns that have been already pointed out:
- The ask amount seems high given that the new version of the protocol is significantly different from the previous one and using the metrics for the previous protocol to justify this amount of support for just four months is rather on the high end.
- From the description we read that the protocol’s gas tank offers gasless transactions on various chains in a transparent manner. I’d like to make sure that the gas rebates funded by the grant are only offered for trades executed on Arbitrum and not on the other chains. How exactly will this be ensured?
- The proposal includes trading fee rebates, but since the protocol integrates other protocols that are most likely already covered by their own STIP programs, aren’t we rewarding the users twice just for using rage trade instead of using those protocols directly? I’d prefer to see rage trade rewards only applied to trades that are not covered by other STIP-related rewards at the same time.
In summary, this proposal, with some modifications, should be a good fit for the next round of the STIP program. And as far as I know this is already being actively discussed and designed, it might be valuable for the proposers to actively participate in this process.
