Staging Options

We’ve developed a staging plan for AVI’s implementation. This plan outlines both funding and operational approaches, beginning with the creation of the foundational infrastructure and advancing toward the fully realized AVI Evergreen Fund. This phased approach ensures a logical progression while maintaining alignment with our long-term vision.

To support this process, we are actively collaborating with the Arbitrum Foundation to address legal considerations for structuring the setup and have created a snapshot that summarizes our thesis and staging process, providing a concise yet detailed overview of the strategy. This snapshot, along with a series of forum posts, will be shared shortly to establish a strong understanding of the key concepts in our thesis, fostering engagement and feedback as we move closer to finalizing our deliverables.

Purpose and Structure of Deliverables

As we begin the process of rolling out the pilot deliverables, we want to ensure that the purpose of each document and how they work together is clear. In recent discussions with delegates, we heard that this clarity was missing. To address this, we’ve taken the time to re-articulate the purpose of each deliverable and how they connect to support the broader strategy. This information can be found below.

Each deliverable builds on one another, addressing different levels of analysis.

Thesis Development Report (Foundational Vision)

Purpose: Iterative deliverable that aims to define the overall vision, general investment focus and hypotheses for the Arbitrum ecosystem. It identifies key sectors and explores why to enable investment now, the methods used in creating the proposed AVI strategy, as well as market cases available to Arbitrum. The outlines and the first iteration will be posted in December.

Connection with other reports: Links to specific market cases evaluated in Market Consultation Findings

Market Consultation Report (Data and Validation)

Purpose: Synthesizes insights from market participants (founders and funds) to highlight challenges, opportunities, and perceptions that can refine the investment strategy.

Connection with other reports: Provides data and validation to inform the strategic vision outlined in the Thesis Development Report.

Set of Strategic Recommendations (Specific Roadmap)

Purpose: Outlines actionable steps and a staging roadmap for the ArbitrumDAO, with specific avenues and types of investments (eg. non-captive vs captive) and metrics for evaluating success.

Connection with other reports: Synthesizes all inputs into staging roadmap (inputs: Thesis Development Report, Market Consultation Findings, and Community Engagement Feedback) to create specific, concrete suggestions for which vehicles to start with and why.

Operational Plan and Budget (Encompassing Operational Framework)

Purpose: Details the execution framework for the next phases of the initiative, including timelines, roles, and financial plans.

Connection with other reports: Provides the logistical operations backbone and “how” to implement the strategy developed in the Strategic Recommendations deliverable.

Community Engagement and Feedback (Part of Strategic Recs Document)

Purpose: Captures community-driven insights through events and other engagement activities, ensuring alignment with stakeholder values and expectations.

Connection with other reports: Part of the Strategic Recommendations Doc - Offers an additional lens of feedback that complements the market-focused data from the Market Consultation Findings, contributing to refining the strategy and recommendations.

Market Consultations

After extensive conversations with VCs, builders, and key stakeholders—including many productive discussions during Devcon—we’ve gathered the insights needed to move forward with the market consultation report which is currently underway. While producing the report, we’re continuing to engage in similar discussions, not only to continue gathering insights but also to generate a robust pipeline of opportunities.

As a result of these efforts, we’ve already identified several promising deals that align with the key pillars of the AVI thesis, which will be a living document that evolves over time to ensure AVI remains aligned with emerging trends and the needs of the ecosystem.

AVI at Devcon

We also represented AVI at Devcon, including hosting office hours events with over 35 attendees. These sessions gave us a great chance to connect directly with the community, share what AVI is all about, and explore potential collaborations. The excitement and interest from attendees were inspiring and have already led to several promising opportunities that we’re now actively exploring. It’s clear there’s a lot of momentum around our vision, and we’re excited about the meaningful partnerships that could come out of these conversations.

Goals for December

  • Create a snapshot temp check to explain and gather feedback on our vision for staging the roll out of AVI. As mentioned above, this will include a summary of the thesis which is currently being articulated in greater detail.
  • Post insights from the work done in the pilot in the forum to provide information that is critical to our thesis and strategic recs, open up conversation and feedback, and create context as we continue to roll out the pilot reports.

Asks for Delegates and Community

We expect to put out several posts during December and would appreciate engagement, questions, and input from delegates. Your contributions will help ensure that our approach aligns with the broader goals of the DAO and addresses the needs of the community effectively. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and collaborating to refine our work as we move forward.
