BlockBot - Integrating Arbitrum's Smart Wallets to WhatsApp - Final report

BlockBot – Final Report

Name of your project: BlockBot

Period: June 2025 – November 2025

1. Overview

BlockBot is an AI-powered chatbot tool that allows over 4.8 billion smartphone users to send, manage, and earn crypto via WhatsApp. We aim to make crypto transactions as intuitive as sending a text message.

This grant supported the development of:

  • Open-source developer SDK resources for building WhatsApp-integrated crypto tools on Arbitrum.

  • A data and analytics dashboard that shows WhatsApp-based engagement on Arbitrum Sepolia testnet, helping ecosystem projects understand adoption, usage, and user retention.

This report summarizes the successful completion of all project milestones of phase 1 and phase 2, highlighting core technical deliveries.

  • Milestones: 4/4 Completed

2. Core Deliverables and Technical Milestones (Milestones 1, 2, 4)

The project successfully delivered an analytics dashboard and a chat wallet v1 for developers and users as part of Milestones 1, 2, and 4.

Arbitrum Smart Wallet Integration via WhatsApp

  • Developers and users can now initiate transactions on the Arbitrum Sepolia testnet and check wallet balances via chat wallet v1. About 400 unique users have signed up and interacted with this tool as at the time of writing this report.

  • The analytics dashboard tracks unique chat-based wallet activity of EOAs (Externally Owned Accounts) created via BlockBot. About 1300 transactions have been initiated with this tool by users on the Arbitrum Sepolia testnet as of the time of writing this report.

3. Developer Adoption & Community Engagement (Milestone 3)

The project successfully onboarded developers to integrate the widget SDK into their websites. We are grateful to these developers for the valuable feedback that was provided.

3.1 Measurable Developer Feedback and User Adoption Metrics

A total of at least 10 unique developer integrations of the widget SDK were verified and documented. Also important to mention that due to the current permissionless and open-sourced nature of the widget SDK for chat wallet v1, as well as the user interactions we’ve observed, we believe a greater number of developers beyond these figures and those who submitted feedback on the feedback form have integrated the widget SDK.

Here are some unique examples/stories :right_arrow:: link 1, link 2, link 3, link 4, link 5, link 6, link 7, link 8, link 9.

Additionally, about 7 unique developers successfully submitted responses via a feedback form after integrating the widget SDK on their websites, collectively leading to about 400 unique user signups as of November 28, 2025.

Highlighted here are three pieces of feedback from different developers within the pool of feedback submissions.

3.2 Community Education & Outreach

The project produced high-quality technical educational materials. For example,

4. Qualitative Impact & Community Feedback

The results and feedback we have seen so far confirm a strong interest amongst both developers and users who have tested the tool so far. We measured success through users (including developers) who interacted with the bot.

  • Verified Adoption: We implemented early on a simple but powerful sybil defense mechanism that ensured that only one WhatsApp phone number account could create wallets (i.e. 1 phone number = 1 wallet user). This provides tangible proof of adoption and tool functionality.

  • Community Engagement & Advocacy: The project also sought to maintain a good communication relationship with our growing community, as well as new users who have never really used cryptocurrencies prior to their encounter with BlockBot, leading to strong validation and increased visibility.

    • Direct Feedback: We also received positive technical feedback from users (e.g., as found here mentioned earlier), confirming our hypothesis about the tool’s relevance and importance.

    • Community Endorsement: The project also gained real traction, evidenced by multiple mentions by developers [eg link 1, link 2, link 3, link 4, link 5, link 6, link 7, link 8, link 9, as mentioned earlier] featuring BlockBot on X.

  • Ecosystem Contribution: Over 10 widget SDK integrations and 400+ user signups were validated and observed so far from around 9+ countries across multiple continents, proving further that the BlockBot widget and application is both developer and user-friendly and also more importantly enable developers to onboard more users into the Arbitrum ecosystem.

5. Future Plans & Continued Ecosystem Alignment

  • We intend to continue to maintain the tool and the technical documentation materials released so far after the scope of this grant.
  • We also plan to work on the community feedback gathered so far to refine the tool and developer experience.

Thanks for your support so far!!! :raising_hands:

@Juandi

I tested the full flow using two WhatsApp numbers, and the experience was smooth and well-designed.

– Simple setup.
– Seamless WhatsApp connection.
– Instant fund transfers.

One observation: the receiving wallet did not display any message when funds arrived; the updated balance only appears when checking it manually. A basic “incoming transaction” notification could make the flow clearer.

GM, we acknowledge this observation sir, and they are in order. Thanks for testing it out and the feedback. Stay tuned please, after testing the proposed solution we have, this would be addressed and resolved soon. @Rwiner_LATAM

Thanks for the quick follow-up.

Happy to keep testing as updates roll out.

Hello sir, happy to inform you that we’ve enabled deposit notifications for all transactions between internal wallets (that is, deposits from wallet addresses created on BlockBot and to BlockBot wallets).

However, we are yet to enable deposit notifications from deposit inflows coming from externally created wallets/accounts. Once we sort some of the logistics involved, that would be resolved too. @Rwiner_LATAM Thanks for your feedback!

Just tested it — the deposit notification works perfectly on internal transfers.
It shows the hash, the amount, and the updated balance.
Great improvement, thanks for the quick rollout.
Happy to continue testing internal flows whenever needed.
