Proposal: Accelerating Arbitrum - leveraging Camelot as an ecosystem hub to support native builders

This is a very interesting mechanism. You are voluntarily placing a mutual assurance contract into place. I think this mechanism is vastly under-used.

This is good to know as well. It tells me that there is better alignment because Camelot has not interest in designating suspect or malicious pools into its SRO. Would the designation of a Self-Regulatory Organization be accurate in this instance?

I think it is important to call out that as designers of a great grants program, we don’t intend to ask the DAO to not fund other long shots. Early in the life of the DAO, it can be good to fund some proven committed partners.

This isn’t said as an endorsement of this proposal or a plea to stop it.

It is intended to say that the grants framework isn’t there yet and OP is about to deploy $30 million in incentives.

If the grants framework succeeds, then programs like this will choose to work within that framework in the future AND/OR the DAO will choose to ask most grant requests to work within the framework.

However, the grants program isn’t at this maturity level yet. It may be wise to make some big bets that aren’t governed by the new grants frameworks.

It is up to the DAO as a whole to judge whether this bet is worth it. I’m chiming in to say

  1. Don’t let the grants framework proposal stop us from taking other bets. We want a pluralist system. Until our framework proves it works better, it would be hypocrytical of us to say other grants should go through our framework.

  2. If AIP - 3 [Non-Constitutional] Fund the Arbitrum Grants Framework Proposal Milestone 1 - #12 by Frisson passes, we will do outcome and impact evaluation & analysis on any other grants which are offered within or outside of our framework for comparative analysis between allocations.

  3. If a program like this turns out to be successful, we would build alongside them to assist them in translating their work to a holistic view for the DAO.

While it isn’t our place to say if we think this is a proposal we think should pass before doing our own diligence and discovery work, we should not be seen as an impediment to other grants UNTIL we have proven our efficacy. This is what we intend to do across 3 milestones and the first has yet to pass!
