SECTION 2A: TEAM AND PRODUCT INFORMATION
About Reboot
Reboot offers a decentralized, scalable framework for building skill-based games that reward players, developers, and other ecosystem contributors. Every participant plays a role in Reboot’s success and continuous improvement, and is rewarded for it. Through GG, Reboot’s native token, the protocol creates a sustainable economy as a foundation for game developers, allowing game developers to focus on creating fun games and immersive experiences rather than building infrastructure.
Note: select components to be publicly released soon.
As in a traditional arcade, Reboot is designed for players to insert Credits to start a game, which then rewards the player with Tickets based on their performance. Both Game Credits and Tickets are collateralized by GG and soulbound to the player’s wallet. While Game Credits can only be used to start games, Tickets can be converted back to Game Credits for more gameplay or combined with Extractors to convert into liquid GG.
Reboot is strategically designed to capture revenue from game session purchases and in-game assets, subsequently rewarding players based on their performance while distributing fees to key stakeholders including game developers, affiliates, and the Reboot treasury.
About BattlePlan
Developed by Pixel Vault and powered by Reboot, BattlePlan is a super-powered PvP auto-brawler game set in the unruly solar system. A player’s goal is to clinch as many victories as possible before losing their 5 lives, up to 15 wins per game/battle. Based on their performance and skill level, the player earns a certain amount of BattlePoints (leaderboard points), Tickets (locked GG) and Extractors (ability to unlock GG) per round.
Players assemble and equip a team of brawlers to test their skills against their opponents in asynchronously matched auto-combat. Currently, the game includes 9 brawlers based on Core characters of the MetaHero collection and will soon be expanded to include all Core characters as well as the broader collection of generative MetaHeroes, all animated by AAA studio Titmouse.
How to Play BattlePlan
Watch BattlePlan Walkthrough / Read detailed How to Play guide / Play BattlePlan
BattlePlan allows users to access tutorials and experience the game for free without the need to initially connect a wallet. Once players decide to engage in battles for real rewards and upon wallet connection, a player account is automatically generated. This account facilitates seamless blockchain transactions with developer-covered gas fees, shielding players from the complexities of blockchain mechanics during gameplay. This will “red pill” gamers to the benefits of blockchain technology (Arbitrum, in particular) without deterring them with frequent and potentially cumbersome contract interactions.
Currently, players access the game through a $20 buy-in in the form of Game Credits (future iterations of the game will include multiple buy-in options), which may be purchased with GG, ETH, or Tickets earned from the game. For a player’s first game, they’ll be able to claim a Starter Bundle containing 5 brawlers and 3 skill loadouts – everything that’s needed for an initial battle.
Once started, the player is given Action Points (AP - a non-tokenized, free in-game “currency”) to strategically select brawlers and skills to bring into battle. First brawler? Free. But the next two start with a high cost: 20 AP for the second and 50 AP for the third. The cost drops by 5 AP with each passing round until they’re free to draft.
Once a brawler is selected and equipped with a loadout full of skills, the player is presented with an array of options to spend their AP in hopes of emerging victorious in the upcoming round. A crucial part of the strategy will center around skill combination. Skills can work together and become exponentially powerful when combined. The player may also choose to level up the brawler’s speed, health, armor, or power. They may also choose how to position their brawlers: Strategically placing brawlers can be the difference between victory and defeat. Whether equipping melee or ranged loadouts, each comes with its own set of tactical considerations. Once the player is ready, they hit “Battle” and watch their build play out against another player’s build in an epic round of space showdown.
Each round rewards the player with BattlePoints, Tickets, and Extractors based on their performance. This process is repeated until the player wins 15 rounds or loses their 5 lives.
Once a game is completed and the player is rewarded for their performance, they can use their earned Tickets (representing locked GG) to purchase new Pro Skills from the Shop (or more Credits to continue playing!). Pro Skills also represent locked GG, meaning that Tickets and Pro Skills may be paired with earned Extractors to pull liquid GG out of the BattlePlan ecosystem. The player’s earned BattlePoints will increase their leaderboard score, improving their chances of winning leaderboard prizes at the end of the season, and will unlock rewards track goodies like skill shop keys, individual starter skills, Credits, Extractors, and more.

Current State of the Product
Marking its official launch, the Reboot Protocol introduced its inaugural game, BattlePlan, in January 2024. BattlePlan had undergone a closed Playtest phase in September 2023, during which it generated 1.4 million Arbitrum transactions with just 888 total playtesters (who each spent an average of over 2 hours per day playing the game without any financial incentive). Following positive feedback and refinements, the game progressed to an open Alpha phase on January 10, 2024. BattlePlan currently boasts over 7,000 total players and has generated over 7.4 million Arbitrum transactions within its short lifespan, underscoring its promising trajectory within the gaming community and the Arbitrum ecosystem.
While we would consider the above numbers to be quite successful, we have also been actively working in tandem with other builders on Arbitrum to help scale the next generation of gaming on the network, improving subgraph indexing performance through optimizations with Goldsky and Alchemy, as well as an exploration into Subsquid indexing that we are now starting. Additionally, after reviewing available VRF options, the team opted to build and launch a performant VRF solution that anyone on Arbitrum Nova is able to use.
Next Up: Reboot Migration + BattlePlan Open Beta
More recently (Feb 24 - Feb 29), BattlePlan was offline due to network congestion and high fees on Arbitrum Nova. This limitation has spurred exciting next steps for Reboot to solve scaling/gas issues by migrating to a new home while remaining within the Arbitrum ecosystem. While the unfortunate circumstance of having to take the game down significantly affected our immediate growth trajectory (DAU/WAU/MAU/etc), we remain bullish on Arbitrum gaming and see it as only a temporary setback. The approval of this grant will help us to regain users that were lost during the game’s shutdown and draw new users to Reboot and BattlePlan.
Reboot’s migration now presents a great opportunity for BattlePlan to launch its open Beta, refreshing gameplay with new features and content including a potential ARB-sponsored launch tournament outlined in this application. More on next steps for Reboot will be revealed in the coming weeks, and Offchain Labs remains informed on all options and outcomes.

What novelty or innovation does your product bring to Arbitrum?
Reboot is a groundbreaking protocol that addresses emerging challenges in the web3 landscape and rectifies issues within the traditional gaming value chain. It represents a decentralized arcade economy offering a turnkey solution for game developers to monetize, market, incentivize user acquisition, and more. By leveraging Reboot’s platform, developers can deliver tangible benefits to players in the form of token rewards, game items, and cosmetics uniquely enhanced by liquidity, composability, and seamless access to secondary markets.
Moreover, GG tokens earned through gameplay can be utilized for governance over the protocol or participation in rewards pools and game validation (features coming soon). The ethos of the ecosystem is clear – all contributors, regardless of their role, earn a genuine stake in the protocol.
From a technical perspective, Reboot was optimized during its incubation phase to provide fast and efficient VRF solutions. Additionally, the team’s dedication to maintaining a seamless user experience while ensuring on-chain implementation of in-game actions has not only enhanced current Arbitrum infrastructure services but also sets the foundation for ongoing improvements as we expand within the ecosystem. These are the keys to true player growth and mainstream adoption for both Reboot and Arbitrum more broadly.
Is your project composable with other projects on Arbitrum? If so, please explain:
Yes, Reboot is composable with other project NFTs, ERC-20s, and contracts. The protocol’s token, GG, is also composable with other projects on Arbitrum. Additionally, Reboot’s infrastructure can be incorporated into existing games, allowing for adoption without disrupting their determined mechanisms and regular flow. Reboot has already secured integrations with prominent projects in the space (BattlePlan, Wolf Game, Chimpers, 9dcc) and is actively seeking further integrations (conversations are ongoing with renowned potential gaming partners).
Do you have any comparable protocols within the Arbitrum ecosystem or other blockchains?
As gaming platforms with similar offerings, comparable protocols include Treasure and Proof of Play (within Arbitrum), as well as Parallel and Portal (external). The Reboot Protocol offers a unique value proposition in that it is designed to reward players for their skill and activity, which in turn rewards other protocol contributors such as referrers, validators, and liquidity providers. Reboot redefines the earning potential in the gaming ecosystem, providing contributors with an efficient and fun avenue to earn rewards. There is not a current product that solves for all of the issues that Reboot attempts to resolve.

SECTION 3: GRANT INFORMATION
Detail the requested grant size, provide an overview of the budget breakdown, specify the funding and contract addresses, and describe any matching funds if relevant.
Requested Grant Size:
450,000 ARB
Justification for the size of the grant:
ARB-Sponsored Tournaments:
At 450,000 ARB, we will be able to conduct 56 daily tournaments over the span of 8 weeks with a max initial purse of 7,500 ARB per tournament. These 8 weeks are intended to coincide with the relaunch of Reboot and BattlePlan on an Orbit chain. Each day’s actual purse will be determined by the number of DAUs (the more DAUs on a particular day, the higher the DAU Tier unlocked, therefore unlocking more of the total daily purse). If any tournament fails to reach DAU Tier 3, the ARB amount that was not unlocked will be rolled over to the next tournament, making the purse increasingly more attractive and incentivizing player growth based on the size of the incentives. This mechanism ensures the efficient distribution of the requested grant, as each tournament must reach minimum DAU thresholds to proportionally unlock the allocated daily ARB rewards. At the end of the incentive period, any ARB left unused will be returned to Arbitrum DAO.
The estimated ~$5 average daily reward per player (see Execution Strategy section below) is well within –and even at the low end of– the range of rewards typically seen in free play promotions offered by daily fantasy sports and gaming platforms as incentives to attract new users and increase regular activity. Combined with weekly and end-of-season Grand Prizes, we believe this average reward to be the minimum required boost to attract additional attention to an already fun game in the current market environment / attention economy.
Approval of this grant would enable a highly marketable launch event for the migration of Reboot and BattlePlan within the Arbitrum ecosystem. Complementing our already planned promotional strategies, including the introduction of brand new game content/features and credit giveaways, these tournaments would substantially bolster our efforts to generate immediate momentum during this pivotal product milestone.
Grant Matching:
Reboot and Pixel Vault are committed to co-marketing the incentive initiatives and will simultaneously be conducting giveaways in which GG (in the form of free Game Credits) will be provided to further stimulate user growth.
Grant Breakdown:

SECTION 4: GRANT OBJECTIVES, EXECUTION AND MILESTONES
Clearly outline the primary objectives of the program and the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), execution strategy, and milestones used to measure success. This helps reviewers understand what the program aims to achieve and how progress will be assessed.
Objectives:
The primary goal of this grant is to enhance the Reboot gaming ecosystem by attracting new users, recapturing momentum lost during the required game halt, increasing existing user engagement, and creating excitement around Reboot’s migration and BattlePlan’s Open Beta launch, thereby attracting more users to Arbitrum. This will involve offering ARB as daily tournament prizes to help expedite player growth, kickstart a new era of BattlePlan, and pave the way for future game developers on Arbitrum. Demonstrating an increasingly vibrant gaming environment will further solidify Reboot’s position as the premier destination for skill-based games of risk.
Ultimately, the successful execution of these initiatives will result in an overall increase in active users within the Reboot Protocol and the Arbitrum network. Each targeted metric within our proposal benefits both Reboot and Arbitrum in easily proven, highly coveted, and instantly recognized metrics across both crypto and gaming.
Execution Strategy:
Upon Reboot and BattlePlan’s migration within the Arbitrum ecosystem, BattlePlan will introduce and market its ARB tournament season. Spanning 8 weeks, the 56 daily tournaments will be based on a leaderboard that will take skill level, game actions, and playtime into account through raffle tickets. Players will earn raffle tickets every time they take specific actions, as outlined in the table below.
Sample Raffle Ticket Distribution
Note: Raffle ticket distribution adjustments may be made as needed prior to launch of tournament.
Every daily tournament will conclude with a raffle ticket snapshot. ARB prizes will then be randomly distributed to raffle ticket holders, meaning the more raffle tickets you hold, the better your odds of being rewarded. Once prizes are distributed, the leaderboard will be reset and the process will be repeated the next day.
Sample ARB Daily Distribution
Sample Cases
In the example below, an average game could yield a player ~84 raffle tickets. With the goal of doubling BattlePlan’s peak daily games (see KPI 2) to 15,000, daily raffle ticket counts could reasonably reach ~1.3 million (15,000 games x 84 tickets/game = 1,260,000 daily raffle tickets).
Assuming the DAU Tier 3 threshold has been cleared (over 2,500 DAUs playing, see KPI 1) and at an average of 6 daily games/user (15,000 daily games / 2,500 users = 6 daily games/user), each user would earn an average of 504 raffle tickets per day. With 90% of the daily purse distributed to 5% of existing raffle tickets, each user would have an expected average daily ARB reward of $5.4 on top of the game’s regular rewards system, which includes GG and other in-game rewards.
In addition to the regular daily ARB prizes, 30,000 ARB will be reserved to distribute as Grand Prizes throughout the season to foster user activity and increase tournament exposure. One 2,500 ARB Grand Prize will be randomly distributed to raffle ticket holders every week (2,500 ARB x 8 weeks = 20,000 ARB)meaning anyone has a chance to become a big winner. A premium, one-time Grand Prize of 10,000 ARB will be awarded at the end of the season to one lucky player among those who came back and earned raffle tickets every single week in the tournament season.
Both Reboot and Pixel Vault will market the tournament and its sponsorship by ARB (or Arbitrum DAO – we are happy to work with an Arbitrum DAO representative to ensure all marketing language is approved) throughout this period, bringing attention and recognition to the Arbitrum brand.
What mechanisms within the incentive design will you implement to incentivize “stickiness” whether it be users, liquidity or some other targeted metric?
The Reboot Protocol’s flagship title BattlePlan has proven to be inherently sticky (as exemplified in the charts above). Additionally, the careful and efficient design of ARB distribution mechanics (such as the daily tournament ARB drip based on not only skill level but also playtime ) will generally reward Reboot players and contributors who are active and committed to our ecosystem for the long term. The addition of minimum DAU thresholds to unlock full daily ARB allocations will massively incentivize new users and daily activity. Also, the design of the raffle ticket award mechanism incentivizes users to continue coming back and playing multiple tournaments over the course of the season.
Key retention mechanics:
- Daily login bonus for all players (through raffle tickets)
- Daily prize tournaments for active players (with ARB rewards)
- Daily grand prize opportunity for active players
- Daily players benefit from potential prize pool rollovers
- End-of-season 10,000 ARB grand prize for users who have been active weekly (must have played at least one day in each of the 8 eligible weeks)
Specify the KPIs that will be used to measure success in achieving the grant objectives and designate a source of truth for governance to use to verify accuracy.
KPI 1 - Grow the Reboot user base to 2,500 (over 2x our peak DAU and an even greater departure from our current status, having lost momentum off our extended break due to Nova congestion) within the 12-week LTIPP incentive timeframe. Updates will be provided leveraging our dashboard on a biweekly basis.
KPI 2 - Increase BattlePlan daily games to 15,000 (over 2x our peak daily games) within the 12-week LTIPP incentive timeframe. Updates will be provided leveraging our dashboard on a biweekly basis.
The added benefit of the LTIPP grant will help us recapture attention lost on a game that has already demonstrated demand in the marketplace and very positive reviews in terms of enjoyability (financial considerations aside). We believe that the grant will not only help re-attract users we may have lost, but also extend our reach to an audience twice the size given the added attraction to the rewards pools and co-marketing efforts with Arbitrum and other participating Arbitrum builders.
Grant Timeline and Milestones:
- Milestone 1: 1,000 DAU, 6,000 daily games over any Week 1 tournament
- Milestone 2: 1,750 DAU, 10,500 daily games over any Week 4 tournament
- Milestone 3: 2,500 DAU, 15,000 daily games over any Week 8 tournament
The BattlePlan ARB-sponsored tournament would span 8 weeks within the 12-week incentive period to provide a max 4-week buffer for the Reboot migration to be finalized and properly tested (exact start date TBD).
Based on past performance charts provided above (all backed by on-chain data) and the additional incentives offered by the Arbitrum DAO, we believe we can resume and improve upon our previous trajectory (prior to game halt).
How will receiving a grant enable you to foster growth or innovation within the Arbitrum ecosystem?
Reboot, as demonstrated through its flagship game BattlePlan, is one of Arbitrum’s most promising gaming endeavors, with hopes to reach far beyond the existing web3 community and demonstrate comparable gaming quality to web2 experiences while benefiting the user with all of the virtues of the blockchain. This grant will allow Reboot to expedite its growth in the form of active user rewards that will benefit both the performance of Reboot and Arbitrum (average playtime, active wallets, player growth) while also rewarding early users within Arbitrum’s web3 gaming endeavors. Incentivization and appreciation are extremely strong drivers of loyalty and these users are likely to become Arbitrum’s biggest advocates as we undertake grander aspirational targets in the future.
Do you accept the funding of your grant streamed linearly for the duration of your grant proposal, and that the multisig holds the power to halt your stream? [Yes/No]
Yes
