SECTION 3: GRANT OBJECTIVES AND EXECUTION

Objective: To position Arbitrum as the premier bot trading platform.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

KPIs

  • Volume per 24hr - $1m
  • Users per 24hr - 1000
  • Trades Per 24hr - 2,500
  • Launch Discord Bot

How will receiving a grant enable you to foster growth or innovation within the Arbitrum ecosystem?

This grant is a crucial factor in achieving our core goal of establishing Arbitrum as a premier hub for bot trading, characterized by exceptional customization, Discord integration, and Rust-based innovation. We have partnered with some of the top protocols on Arbitrum from the beginning, and plan to keep fostering growth within the ecosystem. We were one of the first members of the Camelot round table, worked directly with FactorDao to drive USDC from other chains into their Camelot sale, as well as handled the Vela token migration from Ethereum and Metis to arbitrum while also utilizing their new API to sport one of the first perp telegram bots. We have been a large contributor to the success of Arbritrum, and plan to keep the ecosystem growing through our innovation.

Justification for the size of the grant:

The grant size we are seeking aligns with our substantial accomplishments within the Arbitrum ecosystem. Relay Chain, as an original recipient of an Arb grant and a native Arbitrum project, has been pivotal in fostering the ecosystem’s growth. Relay Chain boasts a remarkable track record, having facilitated bridging for over 2 years, with more than $1 billion in trading volume, serving 25 chains, 15 bridges, and 31 exchanges, and reaching a peak TVL of over $100 million. These achievements underscore our unwavering commitment to Arbitrum’s success and the effective utilization of grant resources to drive adoption and liquidity.

Additionally, our proposal presents the opportunity for the Arbitrum Foundation to potentially benefit if the high-end projections are achieved. This dual advantage of supporting a proven ecosystem player while potentially gaining from its continued success aligns with our shared goals of growth and sustainability within the Arbitrum community. Together, we look forward to realizing the full potential of this partnership.

Execution Strategy:

The grant funds will drive Arbitrum ecosystem growth by incentivizing transactions, volume, and ecosystem growth, with 75% directed to the Telegram bot and the remaining 25% to Discord. Any unused ARB tokens will return to the Arbitrum Foundation. The trading bot collects a 1% ETH fee on each transaction. That fee will be reimbursed to the trader in the ARB token at equivalent value. Half of the ETH collected will market buy ARB and will be gifted to the Arbitrum Foundation. User rewards, calculated at transaction time, feature a 30-day timelock to allow for proper rewards contract funding.

Hello @Christian thank you for submitting! Please make the following changes to your proposal to comply with the program rules.

  1. Grant funds may only be used to incentivize Arbitrum contracts and can not be used for “integrations”, or “deploying a platform on Discord”.
  1. Please note the following rule regarding the expected timeline of the incentives program.

Unfortunately, your 12-month timeline does not meet these requirements.

Hello @Matt_StableLab

Thank you for the comment and guidance. I’ve adjusted our application accordingly.

This proposal seeks 400k ARB but the distribution is incorrectly split across 300k ARB

This response does not clearly articulate why the grant will help you foster growth or innovation within Arbitrum, it merely explains prior collaboration.

As this is a grant for an unreleased product i do not think this should qualify to receive a grant. An unreleased product is unproven in impact and the current justification in this proposal talks nothing about this products ability to actually drive value back into Arbitrum.

Hello @flindy

“This proposal seeks 400k ARB but the distribution is incorrectly split across 300k ARB”
A: You are correct, edited the grant based on feedback from @Matt_StableLab and forget to edit token amounts, only edited the %s. Good catch, thank you.

“As this is a grant for an unreleased product i do not think this should qualify to receive a grant. An unreleased product is unproven in impact and the current justification in this proposal talks nothing about this products ability to actually drive value back into Arbitrum.”
A: Relay was one of the first protocols to deploy to Arbitrum and help bring significant value, tvl, and users to the ecosystem. We have proven time and again that our products bring value to ecosystems and we have been leaning fully into the ecosystem since our launch. Our bridge aggregator is live on Arbitrum today, and has been. Waiting until the next grant period we think would be a mistake as users will be drawn out of the ecosystem primarily to eth mainnet, or bsc.

Bots are overtaking DEXs as it pertains to bringing users closer to trades, with James Bot, Relay is able to offer an unparalleled trading experience and the Arbitrum grant will go towards driving user growth, volume growth, and transaction growth for the entire Arbitrum ecosystem. I’ve added some stats below as a comparable to what we can bring to Arbitrum. Additionally any unused ARB will be remitted back to the foundation.

Maestro:
78,853 users
fees: 13,089 ETH, 1642 BNB

Banana Gun:
21,986 users
trades: 703,782
volume: $269,523,310

Unibot:
16,747 users
volume: 374,787,343
trades: 545,827

If you charge 1% fee and will use half to match 400K of Arbitrum grants, that means you would need at least $80M volume in trades to match the grants, which seems very unlikely for the project, plus it relies on unknown future trading action.

There needs to be clarification of what would happen if there isn’t enough volume to match the grant size and what mechanisms are in place to prevent team from appropiating excess tokens that weren’t matched.

unfortunately do not think that projects should receive grants for something that isn’t live.

if it is not live, we have no way to know its performance, if it will ever even launch, and so on.

product should be launched first, and then perhaps Relay could try get a grant.

@maika Additionally, please provide the addresses of the contracts you plan to incentivize and a spending plan for how you will incentivize them as per

A: To successfully match the grants, it’s true that we would need a substantial trading volume. Regarding excess tokens, any ARB tokens we receive that are not utilized for incentives will be returned to the Arbitrum foundation. These foundation funds will be securely held in a KYC-compliant multi-signature wallet.

A:We share the belief that projects should demonstrate their viability. In our case, Relay Chain has already demonstrated viability, and the James Bot is scheduled to launch in the first week of October 2023. The grant funds will be instrumental in driving growth on Arbitrum. Early adoption minimizes risks of missed opportunities, and it’s important to note that all unused funds will be returned to the foundation, further reducing any potential risks.

Per your request, the contract address and spending plan have been updated in accordance with the grant requirements. Thank you.

Thank you for making these changes! Your submission now meets all requirements to be considered for a snapshot vote.

Do you have statistics on this? I went to your website and it tells me that the metrics page doesn’t work.

On the other hand, I looked at Defillama and it doesn’t seem to reach TVL or volume at 30D.

Do you have any Dune or similar?

Hello @Christian ,

Now that your application has been marked eligible, please be advised of the remaining steps in the application process to be completed prior to the Review Period Deadline:

Please complete the following steps required for your application to proceed to Snapshot:

To change your proposal to final, please tag an Arbitrum Foundation Forum Moderator (@ stonecoldpat @ cliffton.eth @ eli_defi) by the Review Period deadline to notify them of your proposal’s readiness to proceed from [Draft] to [Final] status.

Once notified, the Arbitrum Foundation Forum Moderator will adjust your title from [Draft] to [Final] status. Once marked as [FInal], your application post will be locked by moderators and you will no longer be able to edit your proposal.

We appreciate Relay Chain’s vision to increase Arbitrum’s growth by using bots. However, we believe granting a high amount of tokens on a project that has not gone live yet would be an incautious move. It causes incalculability on spend of sources. Considering this, we are giving our vote against the proposal.
