TMC Proposed Allocations V2 -- ARB Strategy

I’m voting abstain.

Anyway, I originally voted for both strategies, but reading up on the details here, there are a lot of questions here about the the implementation. I am directionally excited about trying to make yield off the ARB in our treasury, but agree this might not be the direction…

TMC’s Proposed Allocations

MY RANK CHOICE VOTING [image] I’m supporting “Deploy Both Strategies” as my top choice. These allocations look like a good idea considering how much ARB we have, and the volatility of the market. Props to the TCM for getting this work done. We’re talking about a very small percentage of our total treasury - 2.5% - this is a conservative risk to try to get a considerable yield. The teams chosen are AWESOME and have proven they know what they’re doing.

We recommend that the DAO votes for NO, Deploy Nothing"

This actually made me angry. Why would you put this at the top of a snapshot… It’s okay as a comment on the forum but if you really fee that way, WHY PROPOSE THE VOTE AT ALL??? So much DAO time was just wasted, I have a budget of how much time I can spend here, and I’m sure a lot of delegates are the same. Also it feels disrespectful to the team that is doing this work.

Process is important but come on, this is just wasted work about work, and we all have better things to do.

voting YES, Deploy ARB Strategy on the current offchain vote because if we don’t deploy, we are just going to hold 10M ARB and do nothing with it and wait… so in mind mind, we might as well just deploy it and trust the partners to return a yield to the DAO. The selected partners are competent, and I think they have the opportunity to do a good job for Arbitrum DAO.

Snapshot: TMC ARB allocation We are voting Against. As voiced before when we chose Yes stablecoin, No Arb, we will vote against this allocation relying mostly on the TMC’s recommendation. Just holding is not ideal, but we don’t feel enough confidence that the benefits (low yield with upper bound of 4% and high yield relying on finding counterparties) justified additional risks when deploying this large amount of capital. We can get behind the idea of reopening applications for ARB allocations …

I’m glad @griff brought up the TL:DR at the top giving a blatant recommendation on how to vote. Especially with one of them being No. Honestly, I was likely going to vote “Yes” to the stablecoin project and “No” to ARB. If for any reason, I think we need more stablecoins in the treasury.

That said, I’m voting Abstain to both of these. The way these votes has been handled so far leads me to believe this won’t be implemented well. I’d rather see these funds go to bolstering the RWC project or something.

We vote for YES, Deploy ARB Strategy on the proposal on Snapshot.

Our stance hasn’t changed since our original post; we believe the DAO’s priority is to maximize the yields with the reasonable strategies.

We will vote against deploying the ARB strategy. Our main opposition to the ARB strategy comes with the current market conditions of high volatility that is ongoing, and we believe it is not an appropriate time to implement the presented strategy in the proposal. We do think the ARB strategy has merit and can be successful, so a future vote in a few months or in comparatively stable market conditions would seem reasonable.

Knowing the proposal isn’t passing, and believing this implementation was flawed. Would like to signal support for continuing to work to find ARB related strategies and making it a more productive asset in our ecosystem.

We understand the voting process could have been done better but maintain our initial support for deploying both strategies. We are satisfied with the answers from Avantgarde and Karpatkey concerning risk and also appreciate their openness in answering questions.

As we initially said, we would love to see ARB being put to work and see this as a great opportunity to.
