AGV Monthly Update (August 2025)

AGV Monthly Update (August 2025)

As summer winds down, AGV has continued to pick up steam by growing our internal capacity, preparing to expand our presence at key industry events, and sharing our perspective and learnings with the DAO and beyond. This month’s update covers our conference plans, hiring updates, recent thought leadership content, and what’s ahead.

Conferences

AGV team members will be attending Korea Blockchain Week and Token2049 Singapore this September. Both events are important opportunities to connect with builders, strengthen relationships, and highlight Arbitrum’s growing footprint in gaming, particularly across Asia. If you’ll be in attendance and would like to schedule time to meet with members of the AGV team, please reach out via this form.

Team Expansion

With two new hires made in August, the AGV team is now fully operational.

  • AGV has appointed a new General Manager/General Partner, who officially started on August 18! At their request, we will officially share their identity in mid-September. They bring deep experience in gaming, venture capital, and corporate development, having led major publishing initiatives, acquisitions, and investments at top industry brands. Previously, they managed mobile and PC gaming acquisitions at a leading publisher and have advised or invested in multiple gaming startups, many of which were later acquired by major industry players.

  • We’re excited to welcome Tammy Fisher as AGV’s General Counsel. Tammy brings deep experience across crypto, AI, finance, and emerging tech, with a track record of leading DAO legal strategy, structuring web3 venture and token deals, and supporting DeFi product launches. Before joining us, she served as Head of Legal & Operations at Opyn, a decentralized derivatives protocol acquired by Coinbase. At AGV, Tammy will guide legal operations and deal flow, shape our regulatory strategy, and work closely with founders to build practical legal frameworks that will help them scale.

With these two additions, the AGV team has filled all previously open roles, addressing critical needs and strengthening our foundation for long-term sustainability. While we don’t anticipate additional hires in H2 2025/H1 2026, we will continue to assess team needs and program velocity to ensure any future hiring aligns with our operational priorities.

What’s Next for AI and Web3 Game Development | Arbitrum Gaming Ventures

Released on August 20, this episode of The Index podcast features Rick and Dan in conversation about AGV’s unique venture model and how Project Easy Mode lowers the barriers to entry for builders.

This podcast appearance allowed us to spread the word about the exciting growth of gaming on Arbitrum to The Index’s 180,000 followers and subscribers.

Thought Leadership

AGV is keeping the conversation moving in web3 gaming and venture. This month’s published piece showcases key themes from our evolving thesis.

Portfolio Updates

  • The Wildcard team is hosting their first organized tournament: The Road to DreamHack. Over the next few weeks, teams will compete to qualify for their share of a $5,000 prize pool. The top 12 teams will face off live at DreamHack Atlanta! All participants will receive an exclusive in-game skin at the launch of Early Access (October 22). Want to get in on the action? Register to compete in The Road to DreamHack here.
  • As Proof of Play shifts its strategy and business model, we have recovered the majority of unused grant funds after they utilized only a portion of their allocation. Following their decision to sunset Pirate Nation and focus on non-web3 players, we wish the team well in their next chapter and look forward to seeing what they build moving forward.

What’s Next

Looking into September, AGV will:

  • Announce our next wave of investments, made in partnership with strong co-investors and reflecting our evolved investment thesis.

  • Introduce our new GM/GP

  • Represent Arbitrum gaming at KBW and Token2049

  • Publish additional thought leadership around gaming and culture

  • Advance ongoing grant and investment tracking processes

As always, AGV is here to serve the DAO and support the growth of gaming on Arbitrum. For questions, feedback, or to get involved, reach out to @Insomniac, @Atomist, or @Djinn.

Thanks for your continued support. There’s more to come soon.
