DevNTell Podcast (Grant Report)

  1. Executive Summary

    • Name of your project: The DevNTell Podcast

    • Link to your website/socials, others:

    • A brief summary of the project, its achievements, and overall impact on the Arbitrum ecosystem

      • DevNTell is a weekly podcast held through the Developer DAO providing founders, hackers and anyone in between a platform to show case their products to a developer focused audience. During the three month course of the grant we had some wonderful and impactful projects come through the show with a record 8 podcast episodes in July (typically we only have one per week but that month we had a 2 a week for the whole month). In July we introduced the DevNTell Builder Series which was a new initiative aimed at giving the podcast audience a glimpse into some amazing projects being built a particular ecosystem. Naturally the inaugural ecosystem that was featured was Arbitrum where we featured some amazing builders such as:
      • We also introduce a couple of tutorial videos aimed at helping our builder audience get start with Arbitrum, including:
    • Explain the impact of the funding obtained through this very grant (we want to understand how the grant helped you)

      • The grant funding over the last three months was a tremendous help to the podcast helping us upgrade the equipment we use for the show including a new microphone and a upgraded camera (+lens) as well as providing us some budget to explore paid ads on social platforms. We were also fortunate to have been recommended some very interesting guests to come on the show, all of which enjoyed being on the podcast and even have some that expressed interest in coming back on when their projects are a bit further along. It was an absolute pleasure having the support of the Arbitrum DAO to help expand and evolve the podcast (including us expanding our social presence to Instagram and TikTok).
  2. Performance Against KPIs

    • Create if possible a table comparing projected vs. actual results for all KPIs, or a paragraph explaining your numbers

KPI 1: Each live-streamed episode has at least 1k in total views across all platforms (YouTube, X, Spotify, Apple Podcasts)
For this we had a total of 16 podcasts over the course of the three months with 11/16 having at least 1k views (although the 5 which didn’t were in the high 800s and 900s). For those interested, you can take a look at all the numbers in our public report here

KPI 2: Increase Spotify and Apple Podcast listener totals by at least 100 unique listeners MoM
While we were not able to hit the KPI targets concretely number wise, we have made good strides increasing awareness of our podcast on these platforms through our expanded social media presence on Instagram and TikTok supplemented with paid ads. For instance, from the start of the grant date to the end we were able to increase our Spotify follower count almost 200%!

  3. Qualitative Impact & Community Feedback

    • Most significant non-quantitative outcome.

      • Personally, through the creation of the tutorial videos I was able to expand my personal knowledge base around around bridging with Arbitrum as well as deep diving into Orbit chains
    • If available 2-3 testimonials or feedback pieces from participants/users

      • While we don’t have direct quotes all the podcast guests we featured throughly enjoyed their time on the show, felt comfortable speaking and in some cases also expressed their interest on coming back on the show
    • Twitter thread highlights your team announcing the grant, and twitter thread your team posting about the completion of the grant (we want to see the social impact of the grant, both through your socials and any reaction, see below!)

  4. Financial Summary

    • A concise breakdown of how grant funds were utilized (doesn’t need to be super detailed, just to explain what the funds were used for and in which %)

      • The grant was predominantly used to help support the upkeep of all the work that goes into running the podcast including:
        • booking guests, setting up the live streams, doing the shows, creating the marketing assets, creating the newsletters, setting up the social marketing, polishing the raw footage for Spotify/Apple podcasts, creating the short clips, and so
      • Additionally, the grant helped pay the bills for various subscription services as well as helping to upgrade the podcasting equipment for the show including a new camera and a microphone giving the podcast a more professional feel
      • Part of the funds also went into paying for ads on instagram and TikTok to help promote various clips in an attempt to boost viewership numbers
    • Explain if there was any meaningful difference compared to the original budget plan

      • The only major difference from what was originally calculated was allocating some of the grant into upgrading podcasting equipment
  5. Future Plans & Continued Ecosystem Alignment

    • Next steps for the project post-grant:

      • How do you plan to expand on the original idea?

        • We feel that there is a growing untapped audience base on TikTok which we have yet to fully penetrate but are continuing efforts to expand awareness for the show through sharing short content and paid ads. We are fully booked into in August and almost filled up all the slot for September as well, so things continue to move in an upwards direction.
      • How do you plan to continue being engaged in Arbitrum?

        • That is fully up to the Arbitrum DAO and Arbitrum itself, we are more the happy to continue a partnership to showcase more impactful ecosystem projects on the show and continue to entertain sponsorships as there is a lot of wonderful things brewing here. Additionally we are also open to doing more workshop style content to continue to help developers build up their Arbitrum toolkits and knowledge.
    • Impact of the grant on securing further funding or partnerships.

      • There are some potential partnerships in motion that we can’t speak about now but the wheels are in motion
  6. Additional remarks
