Recap of November
- The Stylus Sprint is now live and has over 40 applicants! Devs/teams interested in participating can apply through Questbook. For more information, check out this article.
- The Treasury Management v1.2 proposal passed Snapshot with 102M votes FOR and will be going up for an onchain vote on December 5th.
- The OpCo proposal received a vast amount of feedback on the forum, and we recently posted edits and updates accordingly. We aim to push this to an offchain vote before the Christmas break.
- The DAO approved the Events Budget for 2025 proposal on Tally.
- The Delegate Code of Conduct & Formalize Operations proposal passed Snapshot with 124M votes FOR, initiating a ~6.5-month trial period.
- We updated the MVP proposal, but following forum discussions and private feedback, still believe that some slight modifications are required. We aim to post these before the DAO’s Christmas break, proceeded by a Snapshot vote once there’s consensus on the current MVP.
- The finalized ARB Staking Working Group recommendations document was posted during the final week of November, with Entropy acting as the Chair of the Rewards Source Working Group.
- @MattOnChain, @Brick, and @cattin were fortunate enough to attend Devcon, with the Entropy Team hosting an “Arbitrum Delegate Day” in Bangkok. A recap of and takeaways from Devcon as well as the Delegate Day can be found here.
- We’ve begun working on a report to assess the impact of the Questbook Domain Allocator program since its inception. Our initial approach focused on finding the most successful programs (as opined by the Domain Allocators), however, initial findings have led us to do a deeper dive into the program.
Current Initiatives
- Stylus Sprint: Applications are currently open on Questbook. Teams can apply until the end of January 5th, 2025. We also hosted an office hour on November 6th with the Stylus Sprint Evaluation Committee to answer potential applicants’ questions. A second office hour will be hosted on Wednesday, December 11th.
- OpCo: Following extensive feedback from the community, we recently posted updates and edits to the forum. Given the proposal’s complexity and the importance of reaching a consensus across delegates and stakeholders, we want to allow some time for everyone to digest the implemented changes. Having said that, we aim to push this proposal to a Snapshot vote during the first half of December. If the proposal passes the Snapshot phase, Entropy will initiate the application process for the 3 DAO-elected oversight committee members.
- Arbitrum DAO 2025 Events Budget: Since the proposal was approved on Tally, 4M ARB were transferred to a multisig operated by the Foundation and will soon be monetized into $1.5M of stablecoins. The stablecoins will then be sent to an MSS-controlled multisig and the remaining ARB will be returned to the DAO. Entropy is in communication with the Foundation’s new events lead and the person who holds the same position at OCL to begin discussing how the DAO can contribute to ETH Denver. A dedicated communications thread for Events will be set up soon. As a reminder, Entropy and the quoted group in the proposal are not responsible for selecting events or setting event strategies.
- Delegate Code of Conduct + Formalizing the DAO’s Operations: Since this proposal passed on Snapshot, the Delegate Code of Conduct and operational updates went into effect on Monday 11th of November, with a ~6.5-month trial period until May 30th, 2025. Our team is coordinating with the Foundation to get a copy posted in the Announcements section.
- Treasury Management v1.2: Since this proposal passed the temperature check on Snapshot, we will move forward to the onchain vote this Thursday, December 5th. On Wednesday, November 27th, we held an open governance call for contributors to ask questions to specific GMC/TMC members.
- Sleuth Bounty Program: A reworked version of the program will be posted shortly. After deliberation, Entropy decided to restructure the unposted proposal so that an RFP process managed by the ADPC is conducted to select the bounty platform for the program in place of ImmuneFi.
- Unifying Arbitrum’s Mission, Vision, Purpose (MVP) / Strategic Objective Setting (SOS): After discussing the MVP with multiple delegates and DAO contributors during Devcon, we feel confident that we’ll be able to make the required modifications and submit the proposal to Snapshot, ideally before the beginning of the Holiday Break. We’ve already begun drafting the second step of this process—the SOS—which will allow anyone to submit one- and two-year strategies and key objectives for the DAO. We’ve also gathered feedback from delegates and key stakeholders in preparation for submission through the SOS that would comprehensively account for the most pressing barriers and required focus areas. Once the MVP passes the whole voting cycle, and if the DAO approves it, we’ll share the SOS proposal on the forum.
- Questbook Interviews and Impact Analysis: The Questbook Domain Allocator program was one of the first initiatives supported by the DAO. However, since its inception, it’s still not clear if this grants program has had a substantial impact or if there’s anything the DAO could do to help the projects that the Domain Allocators are funding. So, we decided to carry out an impact analysis, where we requested the Domain Allocators to present their most successful projects, and then we reviewed each of them independently. Preliminary findings have prompted us to conduct a more in-depth analysis of certain funded projects. Once this report is done, we will interview the teams behind the analyzed projects to see what we can do to support them on Arbitrum continuously and to gather feedback.
Goals for December
As mentioned, our top priority is to submit the OpCo proposal and MVP to snapshot before the holiday break and proceed with the onchain vote for the Treasury Management v1.2 proposal. We will also continue coordinating with the DAO, the Foundation, and OCL to ensure more developers/teams apply to the Stylus Sprint, and host office hours to keep the candidates informed. We’re additionally focusing on ongoing management and monitoring of the Delegate Code of Conduct and 2025 Events Budget initiatives. Apart from these, we also aim to publish new initiatives this month, such as the Sleuth Bounty Program, and begin preparations for the Strategic Objective Setting framework (e.g., start promoting the initiative to ensure that the community is aware of the SOS and as many submissions as possible are submitted). We have also entered into the incentives discussion and are working on a proposal and presentation taking a first-principles approach to a new program. Finally, we’ll post our first quarterly transparency report and the Questbook Impact Analysis in early December.
Requests from the DAO
Please continue to reach out and pass along requests to Entropy Advisors. Our team is always open to input from DAO members on which problems we should dedicate our efforts towards. Additionally, please inform your networks of the Stylus Sprint if you have qualified connections with Rust developers that would make good candidates for the program.
