Entropy Advisors Monthly Update: October 2024

Recap of October

  • Entropy hired @Cattin :tada:
  • The Stylus Sprint was approved by the DAO on Tally. The evaluation committee has finalized the application template, grading rubric, and the RFP Track categories.
  • The long-awaited OpCo proposal has been published to the forum.
  • The Arbitrum DAO 2025 Events Budget proposal passed a Snapshot vote and is now up for a vote on Tally. We have opened communication channels with the event leads at both OCL and the Foundation, and are prepared to hit the ground running with the ADPC and Disruption Joe.
  • The Delegate Code of Conduct & Formalizing the DAO’s Operations was published to the forums and is now up for a vote on Snapshot.
  • The Mission, Vision, and Goals was restructured into the Mission, Vision, and Purpose (MVP). We decided to restructure the process and split it into several parts as the original proposal tried to accomplish too much at once and ended up promising everything under the sun.
  • The Treasury Management proposal was delayed as the team sought to implement additional community feedback and worked to find suitable and high-quality members for the Growth Management Committee (GMC) and Treasury Management Committee (TMC). The proposal was updated to the v1.2 version on October 30. Most notably, members of both committees have now been included, but other significant changes have also been implemented. Please review the updated version here
  • The Sleuth proposal was put on hold for most of the month, but conversations with Immunefi to host the program have restarted.
  • Entropy has been acting as the chair for the ARB Staking Reward working group, effectively functioning in a project manager role. The WG made great progress throughout October and is on track to meet its deadline of November 22, 2024.

Current Initiatives

  • Stylus Sprint: The first marketing materials will be published by OCL on Monday, November 4th. Applications for the program open November 11th.
  • OpCo: Due to the proposal’s complex nature, the forum period requesting comments and time to edit the proposal with delegate/broader community suggestions has been set to ~21 days. We aim to push OpCo to a Snapshot vote by the end of this month. If passed, the application period for OpCo’s oversight committee will be initiated shortly after, with Entropy Advisors handling application template creation as well as managing the application process.
  • Arbitrum DAO 2025 Events Budget: If the proposal passes on Tally, the quoted group will begin working with the Foundation’s and OCL’s event teams for the ETH Denver activation. Contributors or service providers will also be able to submit their own event proposals once the $1.5m of stablecoins are sent to a MSS-controlled multisig.
  • Delegate Code of Conduct + Formalizing the DAO’s Operations: If ratified by the DAO, both the Code of Conduct and the updates to the DAO’s operations will go into effect on November 11th. After a ~6.5 month trial period, Entropy will gather feedback, update the Code of Conduct or operational standards, and seek to update the Arbitrum Constitution. Entropy will work with the Foundation to make sure the Code of Conduct is accessible and easily visible on the forum. Our team will also conduct an audit of the existing DAO initiatives to see which are delegated to the Exclude Address.
  • Treasury Management: The proposal has been edited to reflect the finalized list of TMC and GMC members, and community feedback has been incorporated. The proposal was renamed to v1.2 from v1.1 to clearly indicate the drastic changes that were made. We are actively seeking additional feedback and plan to proceed to Snapshot on November 14, 2024, thus ensuring there is plenty of time for more feedback and most delegates will have returned from Bangkok.
  • ARB Staking Working Group: Most contributors’ deliverables are now completed and Entropy is currently consolidating all findings and filling in any gaps that emerge. Interview outreach with key ecosystem contributors will begin once the first iteration of the final draft has been completed.
  • Sleuth Bounty Program: As mentioned above, the Sleuth proposal was put on hold, but conversations with Immunefi to host the program have restarted. Our goal is to have this proposal in the forum by the end of the month.
  • Vision, Mission, and Purpose (MVP) / Strategic Objective Setting (SOS): As stated earlier, the mission, vision, and goals proposal was restructured to the MVP. The current approach consists of first ratifying Arbitrum DAO’s end-state goals through the MVP, after which the Strategic Objective Setting (SOS) proposal will be posted. The SOS is a framework through which anyone can propose interim objectives and key results that will optimally drive the DAO closer to its end-state goals. We initially aimed to take the MVP to Snapshot on October 30, but upon additional conversations following an updated version of the MVP, it became clear that more discourse and potential iteration are needed before moving to an offchain vote. Consequently, we will be pushing voting for 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Real-Time Transparency and Financial Information: Entropy has begun working on creating a unified destination for financial and transparency data. We are still in the early stages on this front, but our first dashboard covers the DAO’s multisigs (who the signers are, how much money each multisig holds, how many transactions each signer has signed, etc.). We will be updating this dashboard with additional information and functionalities, as well as ramping up our data capabilities through a data analyst.
  • Incentive Programs: Entropy continues to be active in the incentive working group calls and is ready to contribute to the design of a future program. We believe we can provide value in helping to streamline Arbitrum’s target outcomes of incentives so that program designers can use them as core pillars in program design.

Goals for November

Similar to October’s goals, Entropy will continue to prioritize getting the remaining initiatives not already passed over the line and up for votes on Snapshot or Tally in November. Many of our proposals will also go live this month, meaning that more of Entropy’s capacity will go towards executing initiatives instead of drafting proposals. We expect that once the DAO’s interim goals have been set through the SOS, our focus will more heavily again be on drafting proposals.

As communicated in our delegate communication thread, Entropy also intends to apply for the ARDC supervisory council. Given Entropy’s full-time involvement in the Arbitrum DAO, we believe our level of context regarding upcoming proposals and initiatives will be useful in informing the type of work the ARDC should undertake. If elected, this work will be added to our ongoing initiatives.

Requests from the DAO

Please continue to reach out and pass along requests to Entropy Advisors. Our team is always open to input from DAO members on which problems we should dedicate our efforts towards.
