Building on our recent announcement of the interim council members, we’re thrilled to announce we’re seeking DAO nominations for the remaining 3/5 GCP council member positions starting on June 21!
The Arbitrum DAO, with the support of the GCP Working Group and DAO Transparency Committee, will coordinate the nomination and voting process.
Summary:
The five person GCP Council acts as a diverse group of advisors with complementary and targeted skills, working together to form a well-rounded council that possesses a holistic understanding of the games industry, web3 technologies, venture capital, and DAO governance. The Council member term is a 12 month term and must go through mandatory yearly elections (subject to removal by DAO vote).
Timeline:
- The nomination/application window will remain open from 6/21 - 7/16.
- Voting for finalists will commence from 7/18 - 8/1 using a weighted voting system via Tally, delegates can allocate their voting power among candidates as they see fit.
- Next week, we will provide more details on the voting mechanisms and processes to ensure everyone is informed and prepared to participate.

Role Description of GCP Council Member:
The GCP Council is seeking experienced advisors to join a collaborative brain trust that shapes the Games Catalyst Program (GCP). As a Council Member, you’ll leverage your deep industry knowledge and financial expertise to guide the program’s strategic direction and ensure the utmost transparency to the Arbitrum DAO.
To ensure a well-rounded representation of backgrounds and skills, qualified nominees will possess strong proficiency or mastery in at least one of these domains.
Compensation: $30k USD each member per year.
Primary responsibilities of the GCP Council:
- As a Council Member, you’ll leverage your deep industry knowledge and financial expertise to guide the program’s strategic direction and ensure the utmost transparency to the Arbitrum DAO.
- Collaborate with the GCP team to evaluate game projects, partnerships, and proposals, identifying their potential and risks.
- Offer insightful recommendations, valuable introductions, and work with the team to develop risk mitigation strategies, strengthening the overall success of the program.
- Participate in shaping the long-term vision of GCP, keeping it aligned with emerging trends and the overall goals of the Arbitrum ecosystem.
- Help craft an investment thesis and portfolio strategy for future proposals, shaping investment and grant decisions for a thriving Arbitrum games ecosystem.
- Provide oversight and recommendations on GCP team member nominations and performance, fostering a strong and dynamic team environment.
- Serve as one of the main liaisons between the DAO and the GCP initiative.
Qualifications:
- Must align with the values within the Arbitrum constitution
- Must not be from publishers or studios intending to apply to GCP programs.
- Must disclose any conflicts of interest.
- While participation in other DAOs is not necessarily disqualifying, serving a delegate in another network or on a council with a direct competing focus as GCP cannot apply.
- May not represent network competitors or have significant conflicts of interest due to investments, advisory, etc with competitors (Solana, Polygon, Optimism, etc).
- If a council member position becomes vacant (through resignation, removal by DAO vote, or otherwise), a special election will be held to fill the seat.
- All council members must go through mandatory yearly elections (subject to removal by DAO vote).
- Please note that any offer to join the council is contingent on disclosing and successful completion of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), KYC requirements, and other necessary documents.

- Growth/BD Expert - Strong business development and partnerships experience: 7+ years in gaming with deep industry knowledge, extensive network, understanding of web3 game communities, and established track record in gaming venture landscape.
- Governance Expert: Active participant in DAO governance with a proven track record of authoring proposals, and collaborating with DAO members. Additionally, possessing a deep understanding of Arbitrum’s unique features, (Orbit, Stylus, and Timeboost) is essential.
- Operations Expert: 7+ years of experience in senior finance, legal, or operations roles. Games industry experience is a plus!
- Player Engagement Expert - Live game ops and technical leadership experience: 7+ years of leadership experience in live game operations and/or deep technical knowledge of game systems and infrastructure.
