Proposal: Return funds to arb users who sent their airdrop tokens to the contract address

Well, that is a different case. In this case, I personally like most stories similar to mine, did not have a compromised wallet prior to then. No, not at all. It happened when we were initiating the token airdrop for claim. You claimed, checked your wallet for confirmation like everyone else and it’s not there. It’s simply gone to another destination.

The tokens probably got to your wallet and then were instantly sent to another wallet. Sorry, but that happens when your wallet is compromised, nothing to so with the claim contract or the claim website.

THIS IS JUST A MISTAKE, OUR WALLET IS SAFE FROM HACKER,Return funds to arb users who sent their airdrop tokens to the contract address.

will there be any new progress?

I would like to state that I myself have also been affected. The problem that I have with a few people here is that they think that there is no way that there could be some kind of bug or malicious act at play here. I do not consider myself no expert when it comes to coding and how the infrastructure works, but I am not a fucking noob either. I have never sent out my tokens of any kind out by accident. Not that it cannot happen, but I am one to take precaution. I have noticed that there are a handful of different situations in how one got their tokens sent out of their wallet. As for myself, I wasn’t selling and trying to rush my tokens out to hit the exchange. I sent majority of mine out to a fresh wallet, in the event that somehow my shit got hacked, I would be okay. Given all the hype and madness going on in regards to the airdrop made me want to take extra precaution and so I did. The only mistake I made was not sending out the last 350 tokens or so I had left in my wallet. Hours later, I believe it shows that it was 6 hours later after I sent out the last transaction, my remaining 350 or so got sent out to the foundation’s contract. This wasn’t something I carelessly did or maybe I forgot. All that nonesense doesn’t pertain to me. I know what the fuck I did and what I came back to 6 hours later. Not trying to go on a rant here, but I keep seeing nigga’s trying to correct people and say that it was their own fault. I bet if the tables were turned, you nigga’s would be crying here as well trying to explain your case. Not sure if this sheds light on the matter, but I hope it does and gives weight to a real issue at hand.

it is an ineresting proposal.

We will support users who mistakenly sent their tokens to the contract address and will vote FOR this proposal.

We also think that no deadline is needed to rescuing users. We will need to have some deadline for that rescue, but If another vote is created, where there are votes to return tokens for a new part of the people who mistakenly sent tokens to the contract address, we must do it.

Hopefully this gets the desired attention

Btw, is there a development?
Maybe one can bring this up on the numerous space being held by the team on twitter

It’s almost a week since the drop, would appreciate a positive development from the team

Good idea, many people sent their tokens to contract addresses

Please make it happen, I’m also concerned. So many did this mistake because of all the issues during the claiming process. The arb contract adress was in my metamask for some reason. We are not stupid, we just made a mistake at a very stressful time. These tokens have been burned so it would be like unburning them.
Thanks for reading

Hi all!

Unfortunately or fortunately, there are a lot of those who “arrived” with an airdrop. Did the team pay attention to this moment? Was there any feedback? I consider it a great need to solve this problem in favor of the victims

Yeah,many people have this problem.

Pls arbitrum Foundation team Return funds to arb users who sent their airdrop tokens to the contract address, open a form for a week(or more) where users can insert their address and hash of the transaction with the transfer of tokens to the Arbitrum Foundation contract addresses. You don’t need a large staff to do this, and it won’t put a lot of pressure on the team.

Hi all,

First and foremost, it is unfortunate that people have lost access to their funds by sending it back to ARB’s ERC20 contract. It is clearly not a desirable outcome for the airdrop.

To provide context around the Foundation, our role is to act as Stewards/Shepherds for the DAO and help to enact its will. While we are able to provide advice on the legal, technical, and precedence ramifications of a given decision, it is ultimately up to the will of the DAO to determine the course of action. Additionally, all decisions must adhere to the Arbitrum Constitution.

We can take this opportunity to understand the situation a bit better. We can utilize on-chain data to quantify the lost funds and the affected addresses/transactions. At present, there are approximately 175k ARB tokens affected, impacting less than 200 addresses/transactions. On average, we can estimate that each transaction involves ~888 ARB. It is worth noting that funds are still being sent to the ERC20 contract.

The ideal technical solution is to select a cutoff point beyond which funds will not be refunded. ARB tokens from the DAO’s treasury can be used to refund the affected users as opposed to upgrading the ERC20 contract. We can assume all user addresses are not compromised (user fault & not a hack). We should not permit sending funds to new addresses.

However, the most important thing to consider for the DAO when making this decision is the reason why the funds were lost and the on-going precedent that is set by rectifying it. The funds were lost due to user error and there is no issue with the Arbitrum software/smart contracts. If the DAO is willing to fix this issue, it may open the DAO up to fixing further issues that were caused by user error. I know this is a small case now, but we don’t know what will emerge in the future. So we should be cautious and keep this in mind when making that decision.

We hope that this perspective from the Foundation proves useful and reiterate our commitment to assisting the DAO in whatever decision is ultimately made.

As I have stated before:

and @stonecoldpat has just explained again:

It’s important to acknowledge what actually happened; there was not such thing as a blockchain error.

Thank you mate for your submission. If I may ask, are you a member of the Foundation?

Oh okay I see. Well done and thanks for the reply.
If am not mistaken, you would be the first foundation person writing on this forum.

Permit me to ask another question. When will there be structured coordination of discussions in here? Will there be a calendar of events of some sort? When will the DAO formally be constituted?
