Request For Comments: A Comprehensive Proposal for Modifications in ArbitrumDAO’s Governance Infrastructure
Introduction
Since its launch, Arbitrum’s governance has steadily progressed, approving a series of proposals that will undoubtedly favor the ecosystem. In this initial phase, it is crucial to implement a solid infrastructure that allows the DAO to scale and secure Arbitrum’s success.
As committed participants in governance, we must be aware that the number of proposals will increase over time. We must be prepared to filter them and discern which ones are most beneficial for Arbitrum. We must establish clear and transparent processes if we aspire for individuals, builders, projects, and protocols to see Arbitrum as a trustworthy and safe L2.
ArbitrumDAO has a unique opportunity to learn from the mistakes of other DAOs and establish solid foundations at this early stage. Therefore, we present 3 Request for Comments (RFC) Proposals to gather community feedback and, in the short term, present a series of detailed proposals to help us achieve this goal.
Towards the structuring of ArbitrumDAO
To initiate a solid infrastructure in governance, we have developed 3 RFC Proposals with the following objectives:
- ArbitrumDAO Governance Cycle: We must define clear working times to scale governance. Governance participants, external contributors, and anyone interested should know the deadlines and procedures of the DAO to have certainty in the actions they wish to engage in.
- The incentive system for delegates: We believe that delegates are the pillar of the DAO. They are the ones who make decisions and determine the course of Arbitrum. It is crucial to implement a clear incentive system that allows delegates to stay aligned with the vision and mission of Arbitrum. If we want governance to scale and delegates to spend time analyzing proposals and making the best decisions, it is crucial to establish the right incentives.
- Governance Facilitator: To ensure the operational efficiency of the DAO and that the processes are transparent, it is necessary to incorporate governance facilitators. This is an essential role to streamline processes and establish transparent rules.
These 3 RFC Proposals, together, are adequate for the objective of establishing an efficient infrastructure in governance. We aspire for ArbitrumDAO to scale rapidly and capture the attention of the entire ecosystem.
Call the community
As the title indicates, these 3 RFC Proposals (Request for Comments) seek feedback from the community to present more detailed and complete proposals later. We look forward to the community’s opinion, whether positive or negative. This step is crucial to establish the future bases of one of the most promising governance in the crypto ecosystem.
It is important to note that if any of the proposals receive negative feedback and we decide not to present it, this will not affect the other proposals. Although the 3 are part of a general purpose and are related, they do not block each other.
Next Steps
These 3 RFCs will be launched simultaneously, and during the next week, we will be collecting community feedback. We appreciate in advance any constructive comments you wish to share on each of the posts. Your participation is essential to enrich the proposals and ensure they reflect the interests and needs of the entire Arbitrum community.
We will consolidate the final proposals based on the comments received once the feedback collection period (1 week) is over. Our goal is to present well-founded and clear proposals which can be effectively implemented to optimize governance in ArbitrumDAO.
