Candidates Referral Bounties
As part of a campaign to increase the number of candidates in the Member Election Phase, we will allocate up to 30 Bonus Points to any participant who helps amplify the reach of the September 2025 Security Council Election: Call for Candidates. Amplify means attracting new, high-quality candidates for the Nominee Selection Phase, which later succeed in advancing to the Member Election Phase.
Rationale
As is well known, the number of candidates in the Nominee Selection Phase has dropped from 44 to 22 in just one year, when comparing the March 2024 vs. March 2025 elections. Naturally, the same occurred with the Member Election Phase, which fell from 22 to 13.
At SEEDGov, as PMs of the DIP, we have run experiments around Security Council elections with positive results, which demonstrate that the program is a useful tool to align incentives and improve some of the DAO’s processes.
For this reason, we believe that each DIP participant who brings in a candidate that advances to the Member Election Phase should receive a reward for that effort.
Specifications
The procedure to be eligible for Bonus Points is:
-
Refer a high-quality candidate to the Nominee Phase, provided that they later succeed in advancing to the Member Election Phase.
-
The candidate must explicitly state in their application that the referring DIP participant onboarded them. The application must be submitted by creating a forum post in the ‘Security Council Elections’ subcategory, and it also needs to use the ‘sep-2025-elections’ tag.
-
The bounty will be considered confirmed once the candidate has passed the Compliance Check by the Foundation and the final list of candidates for the Member Election Phase is published.
-
Once confirmed, 15 Bonus Points will be granted to the delegate who referred the candidate.
-
If the candidate is ultimately elected, an additional 15 Bonus Points will be granted to the referring delegate. Despite the fact that the Member Election Phase ends on November 3, the initial idea is to allocate the points during the month of October, as it is the last month of this iteration.
-
Self-nominations from DIP participants, whether individuals or organizations, won’t be considered.
-
Current Security Council members re-applying won’t be considered as referred by any DIP Participant.
-
A DIP Participant may refer more than one candidate, but the cap on Bonus Points is 30 per calendar month. Therefore, if a participant manages to refer multiple high-quality candidates who advance to the Member Election Phase, the maximum reward will still be 30 Bonus Points, even if one of those candidates is ultimately elected.
-
DIP Participants are allowed to vote for the candidates they have referred.
