Web3 Warri Arbitrum Universities IRL Events 3.0 and Hacker House 2.0 Updates

Greeting Arbinauts,

Introduction - web3 Warri Arbitrum University Event 3.0

I am excited to share that the web3 Warri will be hosting, for the third time, a series of Arbitrum focused university events - Event 3.0 and are expanding the knowledge and reach of Arbitrum to two new institutions (and states) in Nigeria: the University of Benin, Edo State and the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

I will be using this thread to share updates on behalf of the web3 Warri - a community of (and for) blockchain developers, smart contract developers, builders, technical writers, open-source contributors, and tech enthusiasts interested in building the next generation of the internet through collaborative learning, meetups, workshops, hackathons, and conferences.

In Phases 1 and 2 of the domain allocator program, the web3 Warri hosted a series of Arbitrum university events across three partnering institutions, reaching over 800 students, researchers, and developers.

You can catch up on our past reports and the impacts for phase 1 and phase 2.

The web3 Warri Arbitrum hacker house 2.0

We are also sharing here that we will be hosting the hacker house 2.0 devoted strictly to deep dive technical sessions and building of smart contracts on the Arbitrum chain.

This hacker house 2.0 will build on the gains and high impact we recorded in the last hacker house hosted.

We look forward to sharing the impact and updates with you.

Acknowlegdement

We are most thankful to the Arbitrum DAO and @SEEDGov team ( @JoJo ) for reviewing and approving our proposal.

Milestone 01 Update - Pre-event Onsite Campus Campaigns

Executive Summary

We are sharing here this week’s report and updates on the upcoming web3 Warri Arbitrum University Event 3.0 - the pre-event activation, and onsite campaigns across the higher institutions and universities.

We have commenced onsite campaigns across three of the five higher institutions where we will be hosting the Arbitrum University Event.

As mentioned last week, we published the blog post announcing the web3 Warri Arbitrum University Event 3.0. This announcement was also shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Full onsite campus campaigns across three institutions have began and ongoing. These institutions include:

  1. The Petroleum Training Institute - PTI, Effurun-Warri, Delta State.
  2. The Delta State University - DELSU, Abraka.
  3. The University of Benin - UNIBEN, Edo State.

Implementation

Core Team and Volunteers Strategic Meeting and Retreat

The web3 Warri Arbitrum University Event 3.0 expands to two additional institutions (and states in Nigeria) - The University of Benin - UNIBEN - Edo State and the University of Port Harcourt - UNIPORT - Rivers State.

And as part of the general plans towards the success of the event (one of our major KPIs), the web3 Warri team organized a strategic core team and volunteers hybrid (onsite and remote for those in other states) retreat. The retreat was to ensure that we achieve an impactful Arbitrum University event, surpassing our previous records.

We had 20 members of the team join the meeting - 12 onsite and 8 virtual attendees. See the tweet here and here.

Meetings with the partnering institutions.

Also part of the KPI for this milestone was meetings with the partnering institutions.

Onsite Campus Campaign at the University of Benin - UNIBEN, Edo State

We began pre-event onsite campaign at the University of Benin on Monday May 5, 2025.

We made a courtesy call to the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, of the University of Benin, Professor Emmanuel A Ogujor, . Sharing our vision for the web3 Warri and the upcoming Arbitrum University Event with him.

We also shared Arbitrum’s goals for institutional initiatives - bridging the gap between academia and the industry via the Arbitrum University events and the opportunities for students of the institution to become Arbitrum Ambassadors.

In his remarks, he thanked us for bringing Arbitrum to the school and look forward to the Arbitrum University Event.

We also met the with other staff members of the University of Benin, including senior lecturers, Faculty members, and student course advisers.

Next, we began the onsite campaigns within the school, addressing students in their various classrooms, sharing the informational fliers, and finding out from some of the students who agreed to speak on camera about what they think or know about blockchain, web3, and Arbitrum. This was a fun and revealing campaign exercise.

See what some of them think about blockchain in this Video.

Onsite Campus Campaign at the Delta State University - DELSU, Abraka, Delta State.

The web3 Warri team was at DELSU to begin the onsite campaign.

Like we did in UNIBEN, we paid courtesy calls to the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Augustine O., the head of the department of Computer Science, the staff Adviser, and proceeded to campaign on campus.

Campaigns at the Petroleum Training Institute - PTI

We commenced campaigns on April 30, 2025 at the Petroleum Training Institute PTI. We also paid a courtesy call to the Head of the Department of Computer Science.

And began the onsite campaign at the institutions.

Summary

Team members in these institutions - UNIBEN, PTI, DELSU - are currently ongoing with the onsite campaigns.

The other campaigns in the remaining two institutions will commence later as they are currently writing exams. We will be proceeding at the point with the organizing of the first two Arbitrum IRL events - starting with UNIBEN on Friday May 23 and DELSU on June 6, 2025

And as mentioned in our proposal, these campaigns will run simultaneously across schools as we execute the next milestone - hosting the IRL university event.

We will continue to update this milestone until the end of the university’s IRL events.
