[WINR Protocol] [FINAL] [STIP - Round 1]

I’m not a “gambler” myself and am not very familiar with this kind of platforms so my opinion won’t be very well-informed here. Overall I think that the gambling narrative has been relatively strong lately so supporting a fresh native Arbitrum protocol in this category seems natural.

However, my issue with this grant is the part allocated to DegensBet and 0xsportsbet, since the apps aren’t even launched yet.

The amount per project is reasonable, but I wouldn’t want to approve incentives for non-live products.

Gambling has been a narrative that has taken crypto by storm as crypto railways make for a more efficient and seamless way to play. Gaming in general is something Arbitrum is all too familiar with as it is the home to Treasure. L2s make a great place for gaming (and gambling) and continuing to push for Arbitrum to be its home should be highly encouraged.

WINR protocol today is a place for users to gamble. With the feature of a few gambling games, it looks to continue its developments towards sports betting and other forms of gaming. WINR protocol looks to establish a base layer for other developers to tap into its engine for gambling, sports betting, and gaming. This base layer approach should be seen as more positive than singular stack-based applications. Such an approach, as WINR’s, allows for faster and more user experience focused applications. As a builder building on WINR, the backend engines for payments, bettings, and rewarding are streamlined, allowing for deeper focus on the experience of users. A 1.5% allocation from the total budget that attracts liquidity and user activity has great potential. This could attract liquidity that otherwise had not been exposed to such LP engines as well as encourage users to try a newer dapp on Arbitrum.

We believe such a proposal should be considered for an allocation. The split of incentives dictated seems adequate. A suggestion we may have would be to propose some succession metrics. Allotting ascertain goal for the incentives could demonstrate to the community WINR’s commitment to its users, as well as a vow of self-confidence in the products brought forward. Being that WINR has yet to establish itself as a larger player, we believe metrics in place that serve as goals to be met before the following month’s allocation would serve best.

WINR has a large vision for what it wants to accomplish. For this reason, we believe a grant would serve well in allowing this protocol to demonstrate its capabilities as well as present new LP mechanics for users to explore.

I hard support WINR to get this draft approved as it is impressive their quality products and seriousness around builidng a secure and innovative platform that is aiming to bring real descentralized and non custodial, non-KYC igaming to the masses.

WinR is the main serious player in the igaming and gamble finance ecosystem, bringing a true Descentralized alternative to the centralization of Rollbit.

WinR is bringing somehting unique and revolutionary like becoming the platform for third party game developers to build on top benefitig the WINR liquidity and platform features such as gasless and AA, which is unvaliable for new players that does not have the liquidity pool or infra but can leverage the WINR infra to build on top.

I agree with you on 0xsportsbet but DegensBet will probably launch before voting for grants is over. So it is reasonable to include it in a proposal, especially because it is a novel product that can generate significant interest and attract users and liquidity

Introduction and Rationale

WINR aims to build a foundational layer for gambling, sports betting, and other gaming forms, seeking a grant of 750k ARB, which is 1.5% of the total available funds. The burgeoning field of crypto gambling stands to gain immensely from efficient, user-friendly solutions like Arbitrum. The established presence of projects like Treasure highlights Arbitrum’s potential role in advancing this sector. The WINR protocol, with its existing gambling games and ambitious expansion plans, aligns with this vision. The suggested base layer approach can catalyze user-centric application development, boosting liquidity and user engagement. Despite these promising aspects, effectiveness hinges on the realization of these bold plans.

Major Concerns

Concern on Success Metrics

  • The proposal lacks detailed success metrics for continuous allocation
  • The absence of these measures could potentially affect the project’s accountability and growth
  • Our recommendation for change: Integrate clear, measurable success metrics to demonstrate WINR’s commitment and ensure sustained progress.

Castle Capital appreciates the efforts put forth by WINR and the contributions it aspires to make to the gaming and gambling sector on Arbitrum. We believe that with the recommendations below we can support the proposal.

Our recommendations can be summarized as follows:

  • Integrate clear, measurable success metrics in the proposal

Blockworks Research supports this proposal and deems the requested amount of 500K ARB justified based on, among other things, the anticipated sustainable impact on, and goodwill to, the ecosystem, metrics such as TVL / volume / fees on Arbitrum and overall, a comparative analysis of all submitted STIP proposals, the distribution of incentives across verticals, as well as, to a certain extent, the recommendations made by the Arbitrum Working Group through the four grant categories.

Hey WINR Team,

We believe that with the support from the Arbitrum grant, the project will not only achieve its objectives but also flourish at an accelerated rate.

We are thrilled at the prospect of this project coming to fruition and would like to formally extend our support for your proposal. We look forward to the possibility of further collaboration in the future!

First and foremost, we would like to express our gratitude for your transparency. You have provided a comprehensive explanation of how you intend to utilize the grant. However, a question arises concerning the request for 200,000 ARB for WLD liquidity. Is such a substantial amount of tokens genuinely necessary for liquidity? Nevertheless, it is important to emphasize that we admire and support the project.

We have cast our vote in favor, marked as “For.”
