A Message to the Arbitrum Community: A Call for Transparency and Integrity

Since launch, ApeBond has been committed to the principles of transparency, innovation, and community-driven governance that define our space. Today, we are unfortunately compelled to bring up an issue that not only affects us, but poses a risk to the integrity and values of the Arbitrum community.

We’ve seen troubling developments related to two proposals (Proposal 1 and Proposal 2) that are on the brink of being passed. These proposals concern the voting in of Serious People and Ian Campbell (aka SeriousIan). Here’s why we’re a bit concerned:

  1. Serious People and Sushi stole our bonding proposal: Our original bonding proposal was appropriated by Sushi/Serious People. We have evidence supporting this claim and had initially voiced our concerns in the governance forums, only to have our messages inexplicably deleted without warning or explanation. We’ll get back to that.

  2. Concerns over voting practices: “Serious People”, a group with minimal online presence (no website or socials), is heavily supported by votes originating directly from Sushi’s multisig. This raises questions about the legitimacy of the voting process and the potential bypassing of self-voting limits, as it seems clear that Serious People is an extension of the Sushi team.

  3. Missing conversations: We are deeply concerned about the apparent deletion of our comments and evidence from the original discussion thread. The full conversation, now only available via the Wayback Machine, shows the extent of our engagement and the subsequent removal of our contributions (and others from the community). For an industry that champions transparency and DAO based governance, we question the intentions behind this act.

Why This Matters to You
This situation isn’t just about a single proposal or organization. It’s about maintaining the values of transparency and fair governance that define the Arbitrum community. It sets a dangerous precedent for future governance decisions and the overall health of the ecosystem.

Our Call to Action
So, here’s our ask: Take a look at what’s going on. If it doesn’t feel right to you, speak up, ask questions, and use your vote wisely.

We find ourselves in a challenging position, one we hoped to avoid. However, silence in this situation would not be right, neither for us nor for the values we share with the Arbitrum community. Thanks for hearing us out.
