Arbitrum LATAM Report - August 2024
Summary
August was a month full of activity, partnerships, and collaborations. The Arbitrum LATAM team continued its work to promote and educate about the Arbitrum ecosystem within the Latin American community. This report highlights our key activities, achievements, and metrics for the month.
August’s Activities
Academic Collaborations
Class at Santa Fe’s Catholic University
The Arbitrum LATAM team made its debut collaboration with Santa Fe’s Catholic University (UCSF) in August 2024, and it was nothing short of a success. During this first class, the team delivered an impactful session on the fundamentals of Web3 and the Arbitrum ecosystem, tailored to the interests and academic background of the students. The response from both the students and the institution was overwhelmingly positive, sparking immediate discussions about deepening the partnership for future initiatives in 2025.
This initial collaboration laid a strong foundation for Arbitrum’s ongoing educational outreach in the region, and the university expressed keen interest in exploring more structured engagements in the future. The goal is to establish a series of dedicated classes and further embed Arbitrum’s presence within UCSF’s academic programs, reflecting the growing demand for Web3 education in Latin America.
New Class at Austral University
Building on the success of the first collaboration with Austral University, the Arbitrum LATAM team was invited back for a second class. On August 29, 2024, the team conducted a two-hour session at the university’s campus in Pilar, Buenos Aires, where they further expanded on the technical and practical applications of Arbitrum within the Web3 space. The class was well-received, reinforcing the impact of the first session and generating further interest among students and faculty alike.
The strong rapport built during these sessions underscores the potential for future collaborations, with Austral University becoming a key academic partner in promoting the Arbitrum ecosystem in Argentina. The second class not only deepened the university’s engagement with Arbitrum but also demonstrated the growing interest in decentralized technology within academic circles.

What’s next? :male-student: :female-student:
The partnership with Austral University is poised to grow even further. The Arbitrum LATAM team is currently working on funding the creation of the university’s own Blockchain Club, which will serve as a hub for blockchain education and collaboration. Additionally, plans are in place to introduce a full set of Web3 classes for a diplomature program in 2025. This initiative will solidify the university’s engagement with Arbitrum and establish a delegation focus within the university, allowing students and faculty to actively participate in governance and ecosystem initiatives.
Looking ahead, Arbitrum LATAM’s next academic collaboration will take place in September 2024 at UCEMA, a prestigious university in Argentina. This collaboration marks the continued expansion of Arbitrum’s academic partnerships, as the team looks to strengthen ties with key educational institutions in the region.
Moreover, the team is actively pursuing new partnerships with universities in Chile and Uruguay, with plans to finalize agreements by the end of Q4 2024. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to expand Arbitrum’s presence across Latin America, fostering education and adoption of the Arbitrum ecosystem in the region.
Partnerships and Participations
Arbitrum Day Collab with the Arbitrum Foundation
At the Arbitrum Day event, we began with a detailed introduction to the Arbitrum ecosystem, explaining its structure, purpose, and how it is helping scale Ethereum through Layer 2 solutions. We emphasized Arbitrum’s critical role in reducing transaction costs and improving network efficiency. The presentation was well received, particularly by those new to the blockchain ecosystem.
Following that, we participated in a panel discussion alongside delegates and ambassadors from the Arbitrum protocol. During this panel, we discussed the various ways community members can engage with the ecosystem, whether through governance participation using the ARB token or by contributing to projects on the network. We also touched on topics related to decentralization and security, explaining how the community plays a key role in decision-making through proposals and voting.
Additionally, we worked closely with the Arbitrum Foundation’s ambassadors to provide a guide on how to interpret the ecosystem’s metrics. This included a review of key statistics, such as the number of transactions, gas usage, and protocol adoption across the network.
Blockchain and Solow Events Community Partnerships
In August, the Arbitrum LATAM team strengthened its community presence by partnering with several blockchain and crypto events across the region. These collaborations primarily involved sponsoring and promoting the events through our communication channels, helping to spread awareness of Arbitrum’s ecosystem and presence. By acting as sponsors, we aimed to support event organizers and ensure greater visibility for Arbitrum, while also connecting with key stakeholders and participants within the blockchain community. These partnerships allowed us to engage more deeply with the community and continue our mission of fostering growth and education in the LATAM region.
Spaces & Meets
Space in the Space — Stackly (July 10): This session was part of the ongoing Space in the Space series, where Arbitrum LATAM collaborates with key players from the ecosystem. In this episode, the team partnered with Stackly, a prominent project within the Arbitrum ecosystem. The session attracted over 650 listeners, marking a new record for Arbitrum LATAM’s Spaces. The discussion focused on Stackly’s contributions to the ecosystem, its impact on scalability, and how it enhances Arbitrum’s decentralized infrastructure. This high level of engagement reflected the growing interest in both Stackly’s solutions and the broader Arbitrum network
Space in the Space — Arbitrum Foundation (September 5): Continuing the momentum, on September 5, Arbitrum LATAM teamed up with Ana_tech from the Arbitrum Foundation for a highly anticipated Space. The conversation centered around the events that took place during August in Buenos Aires, with a focus on key community and ecosystem developments. They discussed the impact of these events on LATAM’s growing Web3 space, highlighting the region’s unique position in the global Arbitrum community. This collaboration not only brought key insights from the Arbitrum Foundation but also reinforced LATAM’s role as a crucial hub for the ecosystem’s expansion.
