Domain we are applying for: Dev Tooling on One and Stylus

Team Member 1: German Abal (team representative)

Team Member 2: Arturo Castañon

Background and Skills

German Abal

  • Inventor, white-hat hacker, and web3 developer with extensive experience in cryptography, software architecture, and web development since 1996, as well as Blockchain since its conceptions.
  • A serial entrepreneur and finalist in multiple ETH Global and ETH Denver hackathons.
  • He has won over 30 challenges in multiple hackathons, reported critical bugs, and collaborated on high-impact projects…
  1. Major achievements in Web3 competitions (German):
  1. Notable Web3 Contributions (German):
  • EVVM: The first virtualized EVM (Ethereum Virtual Virtual Machine), enabling scalability by doing EVM Abstraction using Smart Contracts instead of new infrastructure, giving me expertise in: Chain Abstraction, Gas Abstraction, TXs abstraction, and scalability in EVM infrastructure.
  • ETH Cinco de Mayo: Co-founder of the largest nonprofit organization in LATAM dedicated to hackathons. Focused on onboarding university students into web3.
  • PAT.IO Station: A gasless audio and video streaming platform on Mainnet, finalist at ETH Denver 2024. It develops a censorship-resistant communication protocol.
  • X-Chain Arbitrary Execution & Signed Transactions Tunneling: Libraries for arbitrary cross-chain calls and verification/decoding of EOA-signed transactions on CCIP.
  • Apeiron Protocol: A fully decentralized protocol for tokenization and token ownership in place of current centralized standards.
  • clu3 Service: Protects smart contract functions from bot exploitation using off-chain humanity proofs without relying on oracles.
  • Datamorpho: A novel approach for the “metamorphosis” of files through cryptography; finalist at ETH Mexico.
  • gm Fam!: A tool to deploy new NFT collections on “remote” chains in a permissionless manner from an existing one, featuring different parameters (fees, prices, treasury).
  • DoppelgängETH: Advanced security system that protects your CA cross chain EVM address against ‘CREATE2’ and ‘EOA initializing’ attacks deploying an upgradable proxy CA for any kind of future usage.

Arturo Castañon

  • Over 5 years of experience in blockchain and 8 years in Web2 technology.
  • He has developed technical tools, educational resources, and mentorships that have impacted communities and projects worldwide. Below are some of his most notable achievements:
  1. Technical tools (Arturo):
  • Juno Template: Designed for setting up Starknet nodes. Currently under review to ensure stability; a significant increase in node activity is expected in LATAM.
  • Cairo Docker: A development environment with over 177 downloads in the last two years. Facilitates the adoption of Cairo. Link.
  • Ticklens SDK: A JavaScript solution for Web2 developers to interact with Lens Protocol. It has 9 weekly downloads on NPM and has been used in multiple workshops. 9 weekly downloads in NPM and used in multiple workshops.
  • Atesta Bot: In beta phase, generates attestations for DAO expenses on Arbitrum and Base.
  1. Education and community (Arturo):
  • Over 10 in-person workshops on subgraphs and substreams with The Graph, impacting more than 200 attendees.
  • 6 workshops in Spanish on DApps in Starknet, with a total attendance of 300 Spanish-speaking developers.
  • Remote classes on StarknetJS for over 100 developers worldwide.
  1. Companies founded (Arturo):
  • Co-founder of Chipipay.com, an application on Arbitrum for paying utilities (electricity, water, internet, mobile top-ups) and driving blockchain adoption.
  1. Technical mentorship (Arturo):
  • Has advised MVP-stage projects, optimizing architecture and facilitating launches

Domain-Related Experience and Vision

As a Team (Arturo + German) in Dev Tooling

Both of us have built and collaborated on tools that lower the entry barriers for new developers in the blockchain industry. From node setup and development environments to creating gasless solutions and cross-chain protocols, our combined focus on Dev Tooling positions us to:

  1. Boost the use of Arbitrum: By creating libraries, SDKs, and guides that simplify the adoption of Arbitrum technologies.
  2. Optimize the developer experience: Through documentation, testing tools, and multilingual support (especially in LATAM).
  3. Promote scalability and innovation: By developing or funding projects that integrate artificial intelligence, cross-chain bridging, and decentralized identity systems to improve Arbitrum’s usability.

Grant-Related Experience

  • German has participated in multiple hackathons and has won considerable bounties, giving him insight into how viable projects are structured and presented to evaluators, sponsors, and investors.
  • Arturo has evaluated a large number of projects in hackathons and workshops in the past. He has experience with open-source projects and educational program design, identifying proposals with:
    • A clear community impact.
    • Technical feasibility backed by a solid team.
    • Achievable goals and KPIs.

As a team, we would focus on prioritizing projects with a significant impact on the adoption and development of Arbitrum technologies, encouraging initiatives that benefit both the developer community and the broader DAO ecosystem.

Conflict of Interest Declaration

Neither member (Arturo or German) has any relevant conflicts of interest to declare.

Extras

  • German and Arturo are founders of ETH Cinco de Mayo, the largest hackathon in Mexico, supporting the onboarding of hundreds of developers and university students into web3 through educational events in LATAM.

As a team, we are committed to the growth of the Arbitrum ecosystem by creating innovative tools, offering continuous education, and fostering collaboration with the community, thus driving the evolution and adoption of blockchain technology in emerging markets and beyond.
