Hackathon for Arbitrum

Event Description
We are proposing a hackathon titled “Arbitrum Innovation Sprint” aimed at fostering the development of innovative decentralized applications (dApps) on the Arbitrum. The hackathon will bring together developers, blockchain enthusiasts, and industry experts to brainstorm, collaborate, and build solutions that leverage Arbitrum’s scalability, low-cost transactions, and security. The event will include workshops, a hackathon, and a demo day to showcase the projects.

Event Organizer

The event will be organized by BlockseBlock, a global developer adoption platform designed to onboard, educate, and activate developers across the evolving tech landscape—including blockchain, and other emerging technologies. By bridging the gap between emerging technologies and a rapidly growing developer ecosystem, BlockseBlock enables protocols, and startups to scale their developer adoption efforts seamlessly. BlockseBlock has extensive experience in organizing blockchain-focused hackathons and developer engagement events.

About BlockseBlock:

  • 100,000+ developers in our network

  • 600+ university partnerships across India and SE Asia.

  • 100+ hackathons successfully executed for leading blockchain protocols

We’ve been the global hackathon partner for the ICP blockchain, and our developer-first approach has helped ICP become the third largest developer ecosystem after Solana and Ethereum as per the recently published Electric Capital Developer Report.

Apart from ICP, we were the partners for Near in India for the Redacted hackathon. We provided the highest number of registrations and the highest number of projects in the hackathon.

do you have a date and location for this hackathon to happen?

if not, would you consider waiting for the potential onchain approval of the next season of questbook grants and apply for funding through there, on the season 3.0 of the Education, Community Growth and Events domain?

Also, have you seen this similar example that happened in November, in Bucharest, Romania?

Hi @paulofonseca we want to start this asap and the location will be India. @sid_areta has guided me to post it here.

Hi @Sahilbsb thanks for posting this proposal!

When is this hackathon meant to happen? As outlined in the Application Template and DAO Events Budget proposal, the DAO Events Budget is meant to only fund events costing >$50K.

The Questbook proposal is going to go onchain imminently on 3 Feb, and it would make more sense from our perspective for you to apply for funding via the Education, Community Growth and Events domain.

Hi @sid_areta we want to start this ideally in the next 2-3 weeks.

Hello!

To start, we want to say that we agree with what has already been mentioned—that funding should be requested through Questbook.

Beyond that, we have a few questions:

  • Our team is interested in knowing what is included under “Miscellaneous” in the budget.
  • Are there specific reasons for wanting to start in the next 2-3 weeks?

Thanks!

  1. The overhead costs which may arrises due to unforeseen circumstances.
  2. The academic session have just started so we can get higher participation in this hackathon

Also thanks everyone for questions, will apply for the program as and when it goes live.

I’m generally in favor of sponsoring hackathons, but it’s a bit odd that you want to start in 2-3 weeks, and you don’t have a location or specific date yet.

I suggest that you decide on the location and date first, and then request funding. Also, please keep in mind that the funding process, from the initial forum post to the actual payout, takes time (longer than just 2-3 weeks) and cannot be rushed.

Does this mean that you have decided now to apply to Questbook instead of the DAO Events Budget (as initially planned)?

Yes @TempeTechie will apply through Questbook

Should have applied for funding through Questbook, didn’t see the full hackathon message, you should have refined it to be clearer

  1. The money is not spent right.:The prize money is only 5k USD too little and with giveaways of 3k USD, the marketing and PR is actually 7000 USD. I think the developers are the main players!

  2. KPIs need to be realistic:Don’t do the fake “500k exposure”, just look at how many projects are really online in Arbitrum after the competition, and the survival rate after 3 months is the hard indicator.

this si out of scope for the event budget. I’d recommend going to questbook

Ehy @Sahilbsb gm!

I read about the structure, funding and scope. There is indeed ground for applying to d.a.o. grant season 3 that is going to go live on tally in the next couple of days.

Just an heads up on timing: between the duration of the tally vote and internal org, the program will likely start officially at the end of the month. Even there, not everything might be in place or, more likely, there could be several application that the DA of the domain will have to evaluate.

This is not to discourage you, but want to make sure that the timeline you have in mind is compatible with all of this that should happen.

If you need more info, ping me on telegram

I generally welcome such initiatives because they don’t require a lot of money and attract a lot of developers to the Arbitrum.
However, I can’t support the budget you showed, where out of the $30,000 allocated for the event, only $5,000 will go to the prize pool.
Too much overhead for a small prize pool.
