RAD Eligibility Requirements Update

In our third monthly update for RAD, we published observations on how two eligibility requirements were affecting delegates and made recommendations for adjustments. After communicating these changes to delegates to collect feedback, much of which is available in the comments of the update itself, and is largely supportive of the recommendations, we’ll be implementing these changes for any votes that begin from May 2026 onwards.

What Changes:

  • Participation Threshold

    • The participation threshold is reduced to 50% of the votes on any given month. If there are 5 votes or more in a given month, the threshold will be 75%.
  • Rationale Publishing

    • Instead of being fully disqualified from a vote’s rewards, delegates who do not publish their rationale within 5 days from a voting period ending will see their rewards trimmed by 10%.

Updated Eligibility Requirements

Any delegate who has satisfied the following eligibility criteria can receive a payment provided that:

  • Actionable Requirements:

    • They cast a vote on a proposal
  • Additional Requirements

    • Delegates who do not publish a rationale within 5 days from a vote ending will see their rewards trimmed by 10%
  • Prior requirements:

    • They have cast votes in at least 50% of all proposals, or 75% of proposals if there are 5 or more proposals in a given month.

    • They expressed interest to participate in the program and passed compliance requirements with the OpCo,

    • They have the minimum voting power (specified in budget),

    • Sufficient votes (FOR/ABSTAIN/AGAINST) cast that achieves quorum target*,

    • The proposal follows the process outlined in the Arbitrum Constitution.

Additionally, delegates must adhere to the program’s terms and conditions in order to remain eligible. Any proposals related to this program will not be eligible for rewards, to avoid any possible conflicts of interest.

  • AGAINST does not typically count towards quorum, but for the purpose of this program, it will be included in the count towards quorum for the purpose of issuing rewards. The intention is to enable delegates to vote according to their preference such that ‘quorum’ is always hit even if not officially.
