The Scout Game is an onchain talent referral platform that leverages gamification to create meaningful and effective referrals within the onchain ecosystem. By aligning the economic interests of participants, the game motivates individuals to scout and endorse top talent, particularly builders, who are critical to the growth and innovation of onchain communities. The game seeks to revolutionize how talent is discovered, engaged, and supported onchain, addressing a significant gap in builder outreach, engagement, and reputation-building. Through this innovative approach, the Scout Game aims to foster a stronger, more interconnected ecosystem of contributors in Arbitrum.
Through four funded milestones, the program rewarded merged pull requests to Arbitrum repositories, onboarded first-time contributors, and produced a durable pipeline of engaged builders that projects can discover publicly.
Performance Against KPIs
A compiled list of 196 developers with approved PRs in the Arbitrum-approved ecosystem (as provided) Google Docs. The program produced a verifiable trail of merged PRs across Arbitrum-approved repositories (builder identities, repo names, PR links, timestamps). The provided dataset enumerates developers with approved PRs within the Arbitrum ecosystem scope: substantially expanding the reachable talent graph for teams. By tying micro-rewards to tangible issues across popular repos, we improved responsiveness on documentation, tests, tooling, and feature polish: areas that unblock core maintainers and accelerate releases.

Qualitative Impact & Community Feedback
The initiative successfully aligned incentives, produced valuable public artifacts, and provided clear onboarding processes. The initiative significantly boosted developer throughput by creating a verifiable trail of merged pull requests, effectively expanding the ecosystem’s network of accessible talent. This, in turn, provided substantial relief for maintainers by improving responsiveness and reducing bottlenecks across actively managed repositories. Furthermore, the introduction of attestations and leaderboards established a system of composable reputation, generating portable signals of developer reputation within the ecosystem.

Future Plans & Continued Ecosystem Alignment
Moving forward, we look to establish a dedicated “good-first-issue” board to facilitate new contributions, deepen the use of attestations to verify impact, and spotlight top builders monthly to recognize their efforts. The next steps include continuing open seasons for participation, deepening integrations with existing platforms, and expanding the scope of attestations to further validate contributions and outcomes.
