Hey everyone,

Status of Agenda

NOTE: Will continue to add the Agenda as we develop it iteratively as we define the proposals to include

Logistics

The link to join tomorrow’s governance call to discuss the proposal pipeline and notable discussions is on the governance calendar .

Date: December 3rd, 2024

Approach:

  • The agenda below will be fluid.
  • For authors and/or key contributors of these proposals, it would be helpful if you could include a tl;dr / update of your proposal / discussion in the comments so delegates can review them and prepare their questions for the call.
  • Since authors of most proposals that are in the voting phase have already gone through tl;dr’s and responded to questions in previous sessions, the call will primarily be used to cover ‘notable discussions’ on proposals.

Update on the Proposal: Onchain AI Framework for Arbitrum Stylus

Status of the Proposal:

Current Stage: The proposal is currently in the Community Review Phase on the Arbitrum governance forum.

Next Steps: We plan to submit the proposal for Snapshot voting next week.

TL;DR of the Proposal:

We’re proposing to build an open-source framework that enables developers to deploy and interact with AI models onchain using Arbitrum Stylus and Rust. This initiative aims to unlock innovative use cases such as decentralized AI computation, verifiable machine learning, and smart contract automation, thereby enhancing the Arbitrum ecosystem. The project is structured into four phases over six months, with a total budget of $200,000 USD (to be paid in ARB tokens).

Most Important FAQs Answered:

  1. What happens if the project is deemed unfeasible after Phase 2?

If we determine that it’s not feasible to continue after Phase 2, we will not request additional funding and will ensure that any unspent funds are returned to the DAO or redirected to other community initiatives. Our goal is to use resources responsibly.

  1. Who decides if the project is feasible to continue?

The decision will be based on the findings in the feasibility report published at the end of Phase 2. We’ll share this report with the DAO and the community, allowing for a transparent review process. Community feedback will play a significant role in the decision.

  1. Will you receive funds as a stream or the full amount upfront?

We’re open to receiving funds in stages, tied to the completion of each phase’s milestones. This approach enhances accountability and aligns with the community’s interests.

  1. How do you plan to engage the community and encourage adoption?

We’ll host hackathons, offer developer bounties, create beginner-friendly resources, and establish partnerships to foster a vibrant developer community around onchain AI on Arbitrum.

  1. How will you measure the project’s success?

Success metrics include:

Number of Active Developers: Aim for at least 150 developers using the framework within six months of release.

Projects Built on the Framework: Target at least 10 new projects leveraging our infrastructure.

Community Engagement: Participation in events, contributions to the codebase, and feedback.

  1. Are you open to budget optimization through collaborations?

Yes, we’re open to community collaborations to optimize the budget, such as partnering with existing Arbitrum projects to share resources like cloud computing and data collection.

  1. Will the results be published on the forum?

Yes, we’ll provide monthly updates on the forum and publish a comprehensive final report upon completion. We’re committed to transparency and community involvement.

  1. Have you considered applying for the Trailblazer AI Grant Program?

While we recognize the value of the program, the $10,000 cap isn’t sufficient for our project’s scope. We’re focusing on securing the necessary funds through this proposal to deliver meaningful results.

  1. Will you adjust timelines if needed without requesting additional funds?

Yes, if we encounter delays, we’ll adjust our approach and continue working within the same budget to complete the project.

Plan Moving Forward:

Finalize Adjustments: Incorporate any remaining community feedback and finalize the proposal document.

Submit for Snapshot Voting: Move the proposal to Snapshot voting next week.

Community Outreach: Continue engaging with the community, answering questions, and building support.

Prepare for Execution: Upon approval, begin Phase 1, focusing on research and feasibility studies.

We appreciate the community’s engagement and support for this proposal. Our aim is to contribute significantly to the Arbitrum ecosystem by providing valuable infrastructure for onchain AI development. We’re excited about the possibilities this project brings and are committed to working collaboratively with the community to achieve our shared goals.

Hey @0xredacted, as I mentioned on the Open Discussion of Proposals call, I think your proposal would be best suited as an application for the Stylus Sprint. The program has a total of 5 million ARB to be allocated and the evaluation committee has specifically put out a request for AI related projects that utilize Stylus. You can apply to the program on Questbook and find important program information on this blog post or on the forum. Applications are open through January 5th and feel free to reach out directly if you have questions!

Hey everyone, just dropping today’s Open Discussion of Proposals - Bi-weekly Governance Call video and summary/transcript.

We covered key proposals and updates this week, feel free to share your thoughts or questions in the comments. Cheers to all!

Appreciate the recording! It looks like there was a lot of discussion in the chat and we’re not sure we caught all of it. Going forward, would it be possible to post a copy of the chat from the call as well? Just something similar to the ones that are included with other calls like this.

Happy to do this.

Truthfully, I’ve had some problems with my domain where I can’t record nor get the transcripts from that.

Because the hosts are different across calls - haven’t had that consistency. Will work to improve this setup, but might miss it again this call until I personally fix my domain issue.
