404 DAO Delegate Communication Thread

Rationale for Votes Occurring in November

Snapshot

  1. Adopt a Delegate Code of Conduct & Formalize Operations
  • Proposal: Link
  • Vote: For
  • Rationale: We voted FOR this proposal. Setting a soft set of rules for delegates to follow will align contributors expectations for behavior between parties. Cultivating a welcoming and hospitable environment will allow ArbitrumDAO to continue to grow and foster a healthy community of stakeholders.
  1. Treasury Management v1.2
  • Proposal: Link
  • Vote: Against
  • Rationale: We voted AGAINST this proposal. As shared in our feedback, we felt the intentions of the proposal were solid but the proposed council structure failed to align incentives while also creating unnecessary bloat due to overlap in responsibilities. Additionally, the preallocation of ETH from the treasury for “growth” feels like a misstep from a treasury management process perspective.
  1. Restitution for extensively delayed ArbitrumDAO minigrant winners
  • Proposal: Link
  • Vote: Against
  • Rationale: We voted AGAINST this proposal. As voiced in our feedback for the proposal, we empathize for the grant winners as payouts in ARB have been a problem in the past, but new design choices have been taken by the DAO to fix such problems. Additionally, this proposal would open a can of worms if we set a precedent for back paying all grant recipients who had their nominal grant value decrease. Further, these inefficiencies stemmed from organization outside of the DAOs control as the program was managed by ThankARB and Thrive.
  1. Hackathon Continuation Program
  • Proposal: Link
  • Vote: Abstain
  • Rationale: We voted ABSTAIN for this proposal. The benefits of supporting hackathon winners could provide a new level of ecosystem support for the Arbitrum community but we are unsure on the viability of this specific program. From our experience, hackathon projects rarely turn out to be successful long-term endeavors. Additionally, parts of the budget were confusing and unclear. However, we would like to acknowledge the job RnDao has done from the Questbook grant in coordinating multiple stakeholders to create a successful hackathon program.
