December 2024 Rationales
OpCo - A DAO-adjacent Entity for Strategy Execution
After careful consideration, I’ve voted For this proposal. I think Entropy is working on something very needed, and very difficult to appease everyone. Their vision is in the right place so I’d like to extend the grace to them to believe in their ability to get it done right.
Concerns
- So far, Entropy has been a organization that does things, but not one to empower others. OpCo needs to be the latter.
- The structure is allowing freedoms needed for open market execution, while justifying itself as a government entity. Without constraints, this organization has mismatched incentives that will likely lead to organizational bloat and centralization.
- The justification for the entity design is citing the best of what other DAOs have done. None of these have been successful at both driving revenue and staying decenralized to provide a neutral public infrastructure. While Entropy is great at technical research and project management, this critical work doesn’t connect the principles cited to the design choices and lacks acknowledgement for critical organizational and systems design standards leading me to believe that the team is venturing into a territory that is outside of their expertise.
- A lack of defining what success looks like.
If one year from now, Entropy or OpCo is the driver of more than 50% of working groups by ARB funded, we should reassess this approach.
Partner with ETH Bucharest 2025
I love this proposal. Although I recommended bringing the price below $50k and submitting to Questbook, I understand their desire and I still support it because they have done multiple events and proven their value.
Unifying Arbitrum’s Mission, Vision, Purpose (MVP)
This proposal is safe to try. I think it was operated poorly because giving one option and the whole DAO is screwed if they don’t say yes is a bad process, but we need it and the results are safe to try.
ARDC V2 Security Election
I voted for Open Zeppelin because I believe they will go above and beyond.
ARDC V2 Risk Election
I voted for Vending Machine. I was very impressed with the example of their work I have seen and their presentation to the liquidity incentive working group. I think we need more teams that operate the way they do.
ARDC V2 Research Election
I voted 50/50 for Castle Capital and Blockworks Research. I feel that both have gone above and beyond and supply quality insights.
ARDC V2 Supervisory Council Election
I voted 20% each for Frission, JuanRah & Alex, Entropy & Tamara, Pedro Breuer, and Zer8 because they are all people I’ve seen work and trust their judgement.
Non-Constitutional Arbitrum Onboarding V2: A Governance Bootcamp
I voted against this proposal. I truly don’t understand the purpose of training people to onboard to roles that don’t exist and there are no intentions of making them exist. This feels ridiculous. Great people running it. I must be missing something…
Arbitrum DAO Domain Allocator Offerings Grant Program - Season 3
I voted FOR this proposal because it is a common sense extension of a well performing program.
Concerns
- I’d like to see a process for continually adjusting domains based on needs.
- I’d like to see better evaluation of success.
- I think it is a big mistake to not connect any programs to outcomes.
