GCP Council Nominations

Voted for the following DAO members:

My top picks being:

Coinflip - a stalwart DAO leader with strong context on the GCP as well as other venture initiatives

David Bolger - a huge plus if the GCP can collaborate even closer with Offchain Labs and have the perspective of gaming leadership with strategic insights

Greg Canessa - has deep gaming expertise as well as extensive web3 gaming / infrastructure background

These are the candidates I voted for:

  • CoinflipCanada (Gov): Arbitrum DAO aligned person I believe that his skills will be essential in the Council
  • Greg Canessa (Ops): A lot of experience in the gaming industry (legacy) and is involved in web3 gaming, too. Can act as a bridge on this.
  • David Bolger (Growth / BD): As the Gaming PoC within OCL, it can bring a lot to the table.

Echoing other delegates, the overall quality of the candidates was amazing, and I’m sure the GCP will be well served if others are elected.

Want to thank all candidates who put themselves out there to provide oversight and guidance to the upcoming GCP program. The public process with multiple AMAs including our first ever public session on twitter, were productive and an important part of this process. The DAO is delegating a broad responsibility for this program and this election and future elections of the council are the most direct accountability the DAO has over this program.

A few caveats in the voting rubrik i utilized in deciding how to divide votes.

  1. as a candidate myself, i’ve not allocated any votes to myself.
  2. My leading candidate for the program David Belger is also the DAOs leading candidate to sit on this board by a large margin, so i’ve decided not to ā€˜run up the score’. He is likely the single most valuable resource we could add to this council given both his already delivered and ongoing efforts leading gaming at OCL.
  3. During year one of the GCP council there will be a much larger weight on establishing the program, compliance (COI), reporting, hiring, investment thesis, which is why i’ve focused my votes towards areas that need the most initial reinforcing, namely Venture Experience along with strong governance.

I’m also hopeful that especially in the areas of gaming growth, BD, Ops the candidates who don’t end up making it on the council, we find a way to have these contributors involved with the program, their insights have the potential to really help supercharge this program once its setup. Maybe an advisory board for the program?

Primary Votings

Karthik Raju - as a General Partner at Polychain Capital, he brings both a venture background but also a deep alignment with Arbitrum representing the lead venture investor in Arbitrum’s series A. He brings an approach that I believe can successfully pair oversight for token holders interests while advising an ensuring the program has a long term perspective on how it supports the growth of Arbitrum and gaming in Arbitrum.

Sam Saliba - has a diverse background in investment, gaming, and has been involved in the Arbitrum ecosystem since 2021. His track record of investing successful in gaming, will hopefully provide us the types of insights needed to deploy an effective investment thesis.

Additionally sharing support with Immutable Lawyer, Mona El Isa as governance experts and John Kennedy, Enric Pero and Greg Canessa on the gaming front.

I split my voting power equally across three candidates whom I think are uniquely qualified for this role. I did not vote strategically according to the current sate of the election, rather I simply chose the candidates that I thought were the best fit.

David Bolger - As Gaming Partnerships Lead at Offchain Labs, David brings a uniquely high level of context on Arbitrum’s gaming business.
Karthik Raju - As an Offchain Labs board member and lead investor in Arbitrum, Karthik is well-positioned to represent the interests of long-term Arbitrum stakeholders. This is particularly important given GCP is deploying a significant percentage of the ARB token supply.
CoinflipCanada - Coinflip has proactively stepped up from the DAO to help ensure GCP is successful. He’ll bring continuity and a strong understanding of the needs of the DAO to the council.

We allocate our voting power equally as below:

David Bolger: An obvious choice. His experience and context are much needed for the role as a Growth / BD Expert.

Karthik Raju: As a Venture Expert, he stands out the most and is best suitable for the role.

Greg Canessa: He has the most relevant experiences when it comes to supporting the GCP initiative as an Operations Expert.

Devansh Mehta: His contributions to the STEP were impressive and we recognize him as a great addition as a Gov Expert for the GCP initiative.

Shout out to all candidates who are apparently very capable and passionate to contribute to the gaming ecosystem in Arbitrum!

We will be allocating our voting power across the following candidates:

David Bolger: Likely the best candidate in terms of technical expertise and strategic direction in the gaming ecosystem. His experience in building and strengthening partnerships at Offchain Labs and his extensive network within the gaming industry make him an invaluable asset for driving growth and innovation within the Arbitrum DAO.

Karthik Raju: With his extensive experience in venture capital and a strategic role at Polychain Capital, we believe he is well-equipped to manage risk effectively and execute this initiative with success.

Greg Canessa: Greg’s background in gaming operations and leadership roles at companies like Microsoft, Activision Blizzard, Google, and now, 0xSequence, show dedication to his craft and his adaptability across small and large cohorts. Most importantly, it tells us that he can dependably manage gaming operations.

coinflipcanada: He’s an active contributor to Arbitrum and one of its biggest applications to date, which shows a strong operational capacity. He’s also been pivotal to developing part of the GCP initiative alongside other parts of the DAO.

ImmutableLawyer (Joseph): Joseph’s legal and regulatory expertise, combined with his significant contributions to the ArbitrumDAO, make him a suitable candidate, especially given his history in dYdX operations. In general, it’s a good idea to get some legal perspective in the room.

Continue to be impressed by the caliber of everyone involved in GCP - this was tough to narrow down. My votes ultimately went to:

  • For Gov, @coinflip was the clear choice given his central role in the DAO, perspective on the Arbitrum ecosystem and track record as a builder
  • For BD, I split my vote between @DavidBolger and @commercejohn given their complementary backgrounds and areas of focus
  • For Venture, @karkar4444 because we need the breadth of experience in Venture, which for an oversight rule is especially important

DAOplomats split our vote equally between:

  • Coinflip, Gov
  • David Bolger, BD and
  • Karthik Raju, Venture

as we believe they are the most qualified for these positions.

However, in the future, we would appreciate votes like these carry an abstain option as we originally weren’t in support of this initiative and would have preferred we could refrain here.

We split vote evenly between Greg(@JamesLawton), @DavidBolger , and @sam. We prioritized candidates based on gaming and Web3 experience, landing these three candidates having a variety of domain mastery as described in their applications.

As the ITU Blockchain Delegation Committee, we cast our votes for David Bolger, Karthik Raju and CoinflipCanada.

David Bolger stands out as the best candidate in terms of technical expertise and strategic direction in the gaming ecosystem; his partnership experience and extensive network at Offchain Labs will be invaluable in driving DAO’s growth and innovation. Karthik Raju’s strategic role at Polychain Capital will enable him to manage risk and successfully execute the venture. CoinflipCanada has actively contributed to Arbitrum and its major deployments, demonstrating strong operational capabilities.

I nominated coinflippanda and Gregcanessa based on comments on this forum as most names i wasnt familiar with.
