Proposal: Return funds to arb users who sent their airdrop tokens to the contract address

Even though I understand that your loss is significant, this is completely your fault, not Arbitrum’s.

I also made this kind of mistake once - I sent an NFT to a contract address. The NFT wasn’t too valuable, but I liked it. It happened because of the poor interface of SafePal for transaction history, my negligence, and the lack of warning (btw most of the popular wallets now show warning if you try to send tokens to a contract address). I didn’t even for a second think to blame SafePal for my fault, let alone ask for any sort of compensation…

Im support this proposal

In fact, there are too many users in the same situation who are not aware of this forum, and even they are scammed into obtaining more money.

Anyway, the foundation should process to initiate this proposal and put the vote on the agenda, rather than just discussing it here.

I am a long term holder of top 10 cryptos and although may not hold a lot it is what I have been able to save . That being said, I know crypto pretty well and have my exchange coins on Coinbase and I have my long term holds on Coinbase wallet and trust wallet. I am very new to air drops and the only reason I wanted to join this community is because I first saw ARB when it was listed on Coinbase ( exchange) I looked through the website and road map and was very impressed. I bought a decent amount on the exchange. Then I was looking into how to stake or get involved within the many options that arb offered. I received a notification of an air drop release I could join in. The page was ARB foundation and all I did was connect my Coinbase wallet and then all my eth was sent to what I thought was the air drop event. I didn’t even buy anything yet. All I did was connect my wallet and it was taken. I have voiced my case here and I have been met with nothing but rude ass comments and people that do nothing but talk shit rather then be helpful or at least talk to us like people. I’m not a bot, nor am I a scammer. I’m just a hard working American that is trying to invest into this project. I am new to this air drop thing and I have done countless hours of research but at the same time I feel like I am very new to the air drop and nft’s . I can research all day but I am far from college educated majoring in developer’s or blockchain expert programming and all that good stuff. It literally took me over a year to save that damn etherium just to lose it all and then be talked to like I’m a piece of shit because I wanted to join into this community. The way you treat people is F’d up and if you guys treat the people that one day when a mass adoption happens join I truly feel sorry for people like me who you consider a novice and wreckless that fall for this crap. There are many like me that have been scammed solely by someone or some entity that is in conjunction with this project. It’s bad enough to lose what I have worked so hard for but then to be talked down to like I’m a piece of shit on top of it doesn’t want me to make me learn more, it has made me not want to ever invest anything ever again with this project or anything like it. I am the majority of the people new to this sector that you are trying to reach and that sucks!
Also I do not have telegram and I rarely use Twitter. I really was interested just from reading through the project website and road map. You need to get better people representing then what you have here on this forum wether they are part of the employed or not. 1 eth may not be a lot to you all but that was over a year of saving. Instead of telling us how dumb we are and the stupidity it takes to be scammed or make novice mistakes, why don’t you use you words of knowledge to help people or direct people to where we need to go to learn ( get off your high horse of thinking you are the all knowing Crypto Gods) this is a forum right? Help or teach useful information. What the hell do I know? I’m just a wreckless novice idiotic Piece of shit right. Oh I forgot to add bot and scammer in there too!

Thanks for nothing. Hope people steer very clear of this project

Still waiting for this

I’m not denying something happened , I have no choice to take responsibility. My thing besides the money lost is the way the community here reacts . It’s in no way friendly or helpful. It’s to easy to cast blame and react negative to people like me. Not one person has even offered to help me find where the mistake was Made and how . Also I can teach the wallet my eth went to but beyond that I’m lost .

I agree with this AIP.
This can encourage more people to participate in DAO governance.
The purpose of airdrop is to establish more people to participate in voting. Those who obtain airdrop are obtained through their own efforts. If the token is returned to the foundation, it will discourage the arbitrum ecosystem.
According to @Brokie 's advise, I agree to create a form for all users who have the same problem.

Did you receive your airdrop? Did you send your tokens to the ARB contract? If not, then what are you doing in this thread?

Nobody in this project scammed you. There are tons of info resources and courses of safe conduct in crypto on the web (I believe, on Coinbase too). All most popular wallets now have at least some checks and warnings when signing, which people somehow choose to ignore. Millions of times people are warned to be careful and not follow phishing links. Of course, there is no 100% safety in crypto (like any financial operations though, but in crypto risks are higher), hacks do happen. But hacks and negligence are completely different cases. For example, I absolutely support any kind of protocol hack (not phishing) reimbursements, because it is not a user’s fault.

If you had specific question about the project or safety, you could ask it in this forum too. I’m sure you would’ve got all the answers really quick. But requiring any reimbursement from people who don’t owe you anything… audacious.

If it was directed at me, I’m not representing anyone but myself here and express my opinions only. If you don’t want people to express opinions, you would probably like North Korea.

You too have a good day. I sure hope that we see less of this nonsense here, and more useful discussions serving the development of the project and community. Not just money begging.

I’ve received airdrops before but there are multiple suspicious or malicious issues with this one. I have used Arbitrum for awhile now and received a solid airdrop. There were issues during the claiming. Errors were occuring. Heard solutions that worked for some, and solutions that worked for others. Lot of people had issues sending to the contract address. But I just simply had mine sitting in MM wallet for no more than 24 hours. I Did not send them anywhere and wanted to hold them for governance. One minute 1000+ Arb balance… The next minute a ZERO balance. Did not authorize anything. There wasn’t even anything in MetaMask ACTIVITY to say where they went. MetaMask support has no clue and investigated thoroughly. I checked Arbiscan and found a wallet had unlimited spending ability of my ARB tokens and took them. I did not authorize anything regarding using ARB and it didn’t matter they were taken anyways and I’m not the only one they stole ARB from. Its the first and only time ive been hacked in 3+ years. It’s unfortunate to lose those tokens but Arbitrum will continue to be my go to… Its by far the best community and great Ecosystem. All that said… I do think there has been some malicious activity losing ARB tokens and not all of it is the fault of the recipients.
