Voting Rationale: Dec 13-19th, 2024
Tally
Entropy has voted ABSTAIN as the proposal places our team as a member of the GMC, which is a clear COI.
Snapshot
Unifying Arbitrum’s Mission, Vision, Purpose (MVP)
Entropy voted FOR unifying Abitrum’s Mission, Vision, and Purpose. We are excited to finally achieve alignment on the proposed statements and with a strong foundation, the Arbitrum DAO can move towards the second phase of setting 12- and 24-month Strategic Objectives.
Partner with ETH Bucharest 2025
Entropy has decided to ABSTAIN from funding ETH Bucharest through the 2025 Events Budget. This is primarily due to our concern about setting a precedent in the DAO for smaller and untargeted sponsorships being funded through the budget over Arbitrum-specific events.
We want to first thank Octavian and ETH Bucharest for taking the time to bring this opportunity forward to the Arbitrum DAO. Looking at previous iterations of ETH Bucharest, it appears to be a successful and well-managed event. However, as mentioned in initial comments, while the proposed sponsorship of ETH Bucharest technically meets the specifications outlined in the 2025 Events Budget proposal, it is something we feel is much better suited to be routed through the Questbook domain program. We sympathize with the proposer, as the timing of the conference and the launch of Questbook season 3 are likely too close to feasibly fund it through this route. It is unfortunate, but as mentioned above, Entropy is hesitant to set a precedent here.
Entropy has collaborated with the ADPC to create a few items related to the 2025 Events Budget to hopefully provide additional clarity and standardization to the process:
- An application template to standardize requests.
- A 2-pager brief that highlights the funds available and potential event ideas that can be distributed to event service providers. If delegates know of interested service providers, they can refer them to Entropy who will share this document.
OpCo – A DAO-adjacent Entity for Strategy Execution
Entropy decided to ABSTAIN on the OpCo proposal at the temperature check stage. Our team strongly believes the creation of an OpCo can help the DAO unlock its full potential, albeit not without risks. Due to OpCo being expected to be a major change to Arbitrum DAO’s operations, with Entropy having shaped most of the proposal’s key parts (such as the budget), likely acting as a facilitator in the entity’s setup process, and could potentially be in a situation where we negotiate our engagement with the entity instead of the DAO in the future, the Entropy team felt it was best to not influence the vote as a delegate.
