Arbitrum’s Ecosystem Marketing Plans

Over the past few months, I’ve been chatting with a lot of projects building on Arbitrum and active voices in the community. One thing is clear: there’s a strong sentiment that we need more marketing support across the ecosystem.

So now I’m working on putting together a clear, community-first strategy that everyone in the Arbitrum ecosystem can rally behind. And I’d love your input on where we should start.

Here are 3 ideas that have been discussed recently:

  1. Kaito Leaderboard for Arbitrum
Get a dedicated Kaito leaderboard to boost Arbitrum’s visibility and sentiment on X. This will consistently include Arbitrum in the conversation and help shape the narrative.

  2. DeFAI Adoption Campaign
Position Arbitrum as the go-to home for AI + DeFi innovation. Support early-stage DeFAI projects with go-to-market help and attract more founders to build on Arbitrum.

  3. Arbitrum Adoption Highlights
Run a campaign focused on established projects building on Arbitrum — bringing attention to their progress while also signalling to new builders that Arbitrum backs its projects.

Which one of these should we prioritise first? Or is there another initiative you think should come before these?

Let’s shape this plan together. Drop your thoughts :backhand_index_pointing_down:

Hey, I agree that we should try things out as a DAO to improve marketing and communication around Arbitrum.

Here’s a few recent topics that touch on these things, you may want to check them out (not saying your topic is redundant, just sharing active topics which can be included in your research):

The main catch is how to get the best return on investment. It’s hard to know in advance, so I think we should try out different things, but with smaller pilot budgets to see what works and what does not.

Agree with @TempeTechie. Not saying anything to the merits of this initiative, but there are various threads discussing how Arbitrum DAO can improve its marketing efforts. We should settle on a strategy first, then build initiatives that support whatever the defined strategy is. Kickstarting standalone initiatives that are not cohesive and follow no strategy is not going to work.

Hey @TempeTechie, appreciate you dropping those links, super useful.

I’m totally with you on the pilot budget approach. It makes way more sense to test, see what actually works, and then double down. Marketing’s rarely one-size-fits-all, so having room to experiment is key.

I’ll go through those posts and see where things connect. Definitely want this to be part of a bigger ecosystem-wide push, not just another standalone idea.

I agree that is also why I staerted this thread. I have done this before on big ecosystems. Like Polkadot, Cardano, ICP, Rose and more. But as we said different campaigns for each ecosystem.

If you’d like to learn more about the strategy-setting initiative currently underway, check out this thread: SOS - Initiation Announcement Feb '25

At the moment, we’re in the Submission period, during which anyone can propose a complete SOS matrix. Now, if you don’t have time/capacity to submit a full SOS proposal, you can wait for the Feedback period and suggest adding new objectives to existing proposals - especially in the marketing area which seems to be your expertize.

After the whole SOS process is complete and the governance vote passes, it will be time to start executing on those objectives, which is where anyone from the Arbitrum community will be more than welcome to help out.

Hey @AdamWesteren, thanks for presenting this topic to the DAO. We agree that the DAO and Arbitrum ecosystem could benefit from more marketing support, and we like your community-first approach. Currently, most of Arbitrum’s marketing efforts are driven by the Foundation along with other key stakeholders rather than creators, influencers, and brands. Encouraging authentic engagement from these groups could be a fruitful endeavor.

With that said, as @TempeTechie mentioned, the DAO is determining which objectives to focus on by going through a Strategic Objective Setting process. The results of this effort will shape upcoming proposals and funding decisions. You’re welcome to submit an SOS matrix, or you may want to wait until the DAO finalizes its direction and see if there’s alignment with your marketing ideas.

Hey Adam, thanks for sharing this.

We’ve all agreed for a while that marketing needs to be more cohesive and less siloed. As others pointed out, SOS is ongoing and we’re still waiting on the strategic goals to be finalized.

That said, I really like the idea of a Kaito leadership board. Out of sight really is out of mind—especially with marketing. We need to keep showing up and create some buzz.

Maybe we can draft a quick proposal on setting up the subscription and how to best leverage it?

The following reflects the views of the Lampros DAO governance team, composed of Chain_L (@Blueweb), @Euphoria, and Hirangi Pandya (@Nyx), based on our combined research, analysis, and ideation.

Thank you @AdamWesteren, for initiating this discussion on enhancing Arbitrum’s marketing efforts. The ideas you’ve presented are compelling strategies to improve Arbitrum’s visibility.

In a related post by @Tekr0x.eth How can Arbitrum improve its presence on Web3 Social? the delegates have been exploring strategies to enhance Arbitrum’s engagement on other social platforms like Farcaster and Lens. The consensus so far there leans towards forming a lightweight, DAO-aligned working group to spearhead these initiatives. This approach emphasizes starting with targeted campaigns, measuring their effectiveness, and scaling successful strategies.

Given the alignment between your post and the other one, we think it might be beneficial to integrate these efforts. Establishing a cohesive marketing strategy that encompasses both traditional campaigns and decentralized social media engagement could amplify our reach and effectiveness.

Furthermore, as highlighted by @TempeTechie, there are ongoing discussions and submissions related to marketing in the SOS. As some delegates have already pointed out, waiting until the SOS is finalized may be more effective.

We support the idea of experimenting with these marketing strategies in a structured manner, ensuring alignment with the DAO’s broader objectives, and fostering collaboration across various initiatives to maximize our collective impact once the SOS is finalized.

We wanted to add some context on the ideas above, from the Arbitrum Foundation’s perspective:

  1. Regarding the Kaito leaderboard, the Foundation is likely to take the lead on this so it could be omitted from this proposal.
  2. This is a great idea and we would love to work with the DAO on this. Feel free to reach out to @raam or @cliffton.eth if you would like to be connected with the Foundation’s marketing team.
  3. We launched the Big Moves video series which showcased 15 builders and was well received. Is this something that you think we should do more? We would love to hear more ideas on this.

Even if its not a full proposal, and even though it has some overlap with other proposals and initiatives, this is pretty good set of ideas that deserves consideration.

The Arbitrum Twitter is actually pretty well run based on what we’re seeing, and does retweet Arbitrum projects quite often.

But we agree that some focused, actionable messaging around top Arbitrum projects could be effective, as original tweets seem to spread better than simply retweets.

Appreciate the context — makes sense. Me and the team are currently working on a proposal, but more than anything, we want to make sure the community feels it’s something they can really get behind. Definitely keeping an eye on the process, and if it makes more sense to contribute during the Feedback period, we’re happy to adapt and add value where it fits best — especially on the marketing side.

  • Good to hear the leaderboard is already in motion — I’m currently working on a breakdown of all the projects launching on Kaito post-TGE and will share that presentation here by Friday. Also happy to support however needed on the Kaito side to make sure it’s set up in a way that benefits not just Arbitrum, but the entire ecosystem.

  • Sounds great — I’ll reach out to @raam and @cliffton.eth to start some brainstorming.

  • I like the direction of the Big Moves series. If the goal is to generate excitement, I’d suggest leaning into the quality of the projects with stronger visuals — maybe Arbitrum in the center with featured project logos, making it instantly clear who’s involved. If it’s more developer-focused, then framing it around the support and acceleration projects get from the Foundation could resonate more. Happy to jump on a quick call to bounce around some ideas if that’s helpful!
